Full description
Meet your personalized guide at your hotel to start your tour. Be paired with guides that are passionate about the place they call home and who choose to spend their free time sharing it with like-minded travelers matched to them. Together with your host, hop on a bus and travel 15 minutes into Fukuoka’s lively city center. You could choose to explore the city’s up-and-coming otaku scene at Marble Choco, a store dedicated to dollhouse furniture. Alternatively, you could explore the Daimyo neighborhood, a hub of trendy shops, urban culture, and hipster cafes. Head to restaurant-lined Ropponmatsu, where you’ll have your pick of intimate izakaya and tonkotsu ramen joints. Then, you could stroll through the lush Ōhori Park, or head west via subway to Nishijin’s traditional shop-lined streets, where one of the tallest towers in Japan is just a short walk away. Maybe you’ll travel back in time to ancient Japan’s temples and shrines, like Tōchō-ji and Kushida. Or perhaps you'll want to stock up on souvenirs at the enormous Canal City Hakata entertainment complex east of Naka River.  At dusk, cross the Naka River onto Nakasu Island, where you can feast on yakitori skewers and draft beer at authentic mobile food stalls called yatai.
