Isola Madre est la plus grande des îles du Verbano. Sa végétation verdoyante et son palais surgissent des eaux bleues. Isola Madre fut la première île habitée depuis l'installation du comte Lancillotto Borromée, qui en fit un lieu de délices et de douceur. Aujourd'hui, l'île est connue internationalement pour ses magnifiques collections botaniques.
