Porto Full-Day Private Tour from Lisbon

6. Porto Full-Day Private Tour from Lisbon

Porto is the capital and gateway to Northern Portugal. It is the city that provided a nation with a name and a fortified wine known world-wide: port. With its splendid geographical location on the mouth of the Douro River and an architectural heritage of exceptional quality, the historic center of Porto was declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1996.  In addition to its history, any visitor to Porto will be quickly impressed by the forceful character both of the city and its inhabitants. The downtown of Porto is called 'Baixa' where all the rhythms of city life, movement and intense retailing are found. There is a very peculiar expression which bestows a Nordic, mercantile tone onto a city that is both spiritually and intensely baroque. In sharp contrast, in the Serralves Park, there is the sheer modernity of the building housing the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the romantic, soothing surroundings of the surrounding leafy park.

What people are saying about Foz do Douro

Our tour guide Fabio save the day! This tour is perfect on this rainy weather.  It allowed us to see the highlights of Porto in a short time while staying dry.  Fabio gave  us a general glimpse of the city with historical perspectives oftentimes interjecting humor in his narration. Navigating through the rain,  he made stops to several scenic and historical sites allowing us ample time to take photos  whenever tne rain let up.

It was the best way for us to get to know a city and to explore it for later excursions. We could stop where we wanted and make individual detours. Nice, competent guide. Unfortunately, I hadn't paid attention to getting an electric tuk-tuk and with the two-stroke engine you had to ask what the guide said in some situations, my mistake.

10/10 worth the money! Got driven around the city with a guide who was very knowledgeable and ate a delicious lunch!

very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. A good length of time to see the sites and was a fun experience.

great experience with knowledgeable and interesting staff, highly recommended!!
