Full description
Begin your tour at the Palazzo Medici Riccardi, which is the main residence of the first branch of the Medici family. The Medici family was connected to most of the other elite families of the time through marriages of convenience, partnership, or employment so the family had a central position in the social network. Several families had systematic access to the rest of the elite families only through the Medici family. Some examples of these families include the Bardi, Altoviti, Ridolfi, Cavalcanti, and the Tornabuoni. This has been suggested as a reason for the rise of the Medici family. Continue your tour to the square of San Lorenzo Church, which was Florence’s cathedral until the 8th-century. From the early 15th-century, the Medici family had the church entirely rebuilt in the new Renaissance style. On your way here, discover the Medici Chapels and the private mausoleum of the Medici Grand Dukes, where you can admire Michelangelo’s New Sacristy and his Medici Tombs. Then move across the city center to reach the river Arno and cross the river on Ponte Vecchio to the Oltrarno district. Here, see the imposing Palazzo Pitti, which was the last residence of the Medici family. Your guide will lead you to the last stop of the tour, La Strega Nocciola, to enjoy a delicious ice cream.

The tour is very interesting and recommended!

Many thanks to Rossella. She was a guide with us in the footsteps of the Medici. In a small group (5 people, we and a couple) Rossella managed to captivate us with your knowledge. It was exciting, impressive, interesting and terrific. Despite a strong thunderstorm that broke out right at the beginning of the tour, Rossella guided us through Florence in a protective manner. The history of the Medici was captivating to us, as if we were witnessing it. Many new insights, even though we booked a tour of Florence a year ago. Rossella was great! The tour was a wish of our 20 year old daughter who booked the tour online. My husband was a bit skeptical but it was well worth it! Lots of new information and a top leadership. Thanks again to Rossella. We will definitely come back to Florence.

Rosella, our tour guide, is a nice little lady who has lost her heart to Florence. She led us through Florence in a pleasantly small group of 4 people and shared her expertise with us. Her German was very good, although she sometimes spoke a little too quietly to drown out the tourist noise. She was kind enough to give us one ice coupon from her favorite gelateria. The ice cream was then very tasty.
