Full description

After meeting your guide and boarding the coach, drive to the Chianti region. On the way to the first winery, your guide will share interesting facts and curiosities about landmarks along the route. Arrive at the first “cantina” of the day, where you will be welcomed by the winemakers. After listening to a brief introduction about the winery’s history and the types of wine made there, join a guided tour of the facilities and nearby vineyards. Learn all about the winemaking process, the materials used to make the barrels, and what it takes to be classified as a “Chianti Classico”. Then, begin your first tasting session of 4 different wines. You will hear an explanation of each of the wines that you sample, as well as some tips on how to savor the wine and understand its qualities. The wines will be accompanied by local snacks produced in the region, such as cheese, bread, olive oil, and salumi. Board the bus and continue to the second winery. On the way, make a stop at a scenic lookout to observe a stunning panorama of the Chianti Hills. At the second winery, learn about their production methods, what is unique about their vines, and how weather can affect the grapes. Explore the facilities during a short guided tour, and walk through the vineyards. Then, sample another round of up to 3 wines, as the local charismatic wine producer tells you about the peculiarities of each. After some free time, head back to Florence.

Overall good experience. The meet-up area is definitely not as described - the map will take you to the right place but you are looking for the ciao Florence team in pink. You do end up spending most of the time on the bus but it’s a very pretty drive, especially at sunset if you do the 2:30pm tour. The wineries themselves were okay, the first one was quite small which made it feel overcrowded and there wasn’t a lot of information about the specifics of the wine or wine-making process, rather letting you know the wine you’re trying was available for purchase. There are some snacks but definitely make sure you eat before you go. It was very much a wine tasting and drive through the Chianti area which was lovely but a touch boring as there were only 2 hour-long stops in a 5.5 hour trip. The bus ride is also through windy roads so be careful if you’re prone to motion sickness!

We didn't expect a lot and this is a very simple tour. You get exactly what is explained in the description. The first winery is a bit more friendly and beautiful. The wine was good and bought a bottle from both. We liked our guide Marina, she is funny and very friendly, I wish we had a more interesting tour with her another time. We had some difficulties finding our guide at the meeting point because we were informed that the guide will be in the clothes with "Get Your Guide" logo and a red flag. However, there was a girl in a pink hoody with "Chiao Florence" text and no flags. The meeting point was also several meters away from the place in the photo.

We really enjoyed the wine tour and tasting. Being the only group at both wineries gave us a chance to explore without big crowds giving us a more personal experience. The wines we tasted were delicious as well as the food (snacks) we sampled. Coach was comfortable. Both the driver and tour guided were friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money.
