Full description
Discover the heart of Florence and learn all the secrets and the history that lies behind the Duomo Complex. Santa Maria del Fiore, designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, is the third largest church in the world and was the largest church in Europe when it was completed in the 15th Century. Your local guide will show you the main sights while telling you interesting anecdotes on how this masterpiece was created. You’ll also visit the Duomo Museum in which you’ll discover masterpieces of Arnolfo, Ghiberti, Donatello, Luca della Robbia, Antonio Pollaiolo, Verrocchio, and Michelangelo. This is the largest concentration of Florentine monumental sculpture in the world. Last but not least, admire the stunning Baptistry of San Giovanni, one of the most ancient churches in Florence, which sits opposite the city's cathedral, the church of Santa Maria del Fiore and its incredible East Door - that Michelangelo called the Gates of Paradise.

beautiful visit, enrica was really good. his enthusiasm and the love he has for what he showed us and transmitted it to us with so many stories, anecdotes, unknown details of the history of the construction of the cathedral and of the historical events that took place there. he then took us to the discovery of the museum of the work of the cathedral which was a real surprise. beautiful museum that contains the originals of the works intended for the facade and bell tower, and the original doors of the baptistery. you really miss your breath in front of so much wonder. enrica explained all the details, the stories, the meanings .. a real plus! it's like climbing onto a scaffolding and seeing every detail up close. spectacular. then there are the projects that participated in the various competitions of the time. really interesting. a little known but unmissable museum. we concluded with the baptistery, another masterpiece. what to say, Florence never ceases to amaze, and discovering

Good guidance, but cluttered collection, where you did not know if you got it right or not, the long wait made the schedule completely burst.

I really misunderstood the instruments here, mainly because of the line 'there are no jump the queue options at the Duomo'. Reading that and having seen the long lines queued up I assumed I had to join the line to get in in time. I got in but there was no one there fitting the description. I think some clearer instructions including exactly where to gather in the piazza and what the tour sign looks like would help, including a statement 'don't worry about the long line meet 30m away by the baptistry' or something like that would have been clearer. I paid €44 for nothing but very intense frustration. Partly my mistake but partly confusion about the exact place to meet. Also please be clear about whether this tour includes walking to the top of the dome or not! It doesn't!
