Florence: Guided City Tour with Accademia Gallery

2. Florence: Guided City Tour with Accademia Gallery

Start your Tour from the very heart of Florence, with the Guided Visit of Accademia Gallery, with a total immersion in the art of Michelangelo to know his most renowned works, the “David”, and other important masterpieces such as ''I Prigioni'', ''San Matteo'' and the “Palestrina Pietà”. The young Michelangelo carved the David from a huge block of rough marble in three years, creating an imposing sculpture of absolute beauty, an icon of the renaissance model. Then you will proceed with a walking Tour which will include the outdoor guided visit of San Lorenzo Church and the Duomo complex: San Giovanni Baptistery with its bronze doors as the famous Porta del Paradiso and the Cathedral with the magnificent Cupola del Brunelleschi and Giotto’s bell tower. The walk continues along lively Via Calzaiuoli in the heart of the city, where you can admire the imposing and singular Orsanmichele Church, a masterpiece of Florentine gothic art, decorated with shrines with statues of the patron saints of the powerful medieval trade guilds. Then you reach the bustling Mercato della Paglia (Straw Market): don’t forget to rub the nose of the famous "porcellino" (pig) and toss a coin into the fountain to bring you good luck! Going on, you can admire the romantic, picturesque Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence, with its renowned jewellery shops. Your lovely blast from the past will end in Piazza Signoria, one of the most beautiful squares in the world and the political centre of the city. In this true “outdoor museum”, you’ll be amazed as you admire the beautiful Fountain of Neptune with the marvellous and imposing marble statue by Ammannati and then, looking around, the sculptural masterpieces of the Loggia dei Lanzi, including the Cellini’s Perseus and the Gianbologna’s Rape of the Sabines. Dominating all this is the majestic Palazzo Vecchio with its crenellated Arnolfo tower, one of the most famous symbols of Florence that you will be able to admire in all its magnificence. End this amazing tour with a delicious Tuscan Lunch in a Restaurant located in the old town. Please note that the order of the visits may change

What people are saying about Fiesole

We couldn't have had a better guide than Marco!

This was the second tour we have done and were so please to have Marco as our guide yet again. Everything was well organised and we were well looked after. Marco was wonderful at explaining things to us throughout the tour, going into great detail and answering any questions we might have had. He had a lovely personality and truly felt like a friend showing us around the city, not like a guide just spitting out facts and trying to finish the tour as soon as possible.

This experience was just perfect. Our guide was very knowledgeable and you could see her experience and passion for art which was contagious. She made the tour very valuable and fun for me and also for my 18 years old daughter. We did this tour in Spanish, our first language which made it even more special. Thank you!

Outstanding tour within permitted time

The tour started on time having partly traveled by bus to Piazzale Michelangelo for a spectacular city view and then by walking to Accademia Gallery. There were so many things to see within limited time but the guide managed to show us the important parts, particularly David.

When talking about a walking tour, it is understood that it is the city.

Regarding the perfect guide, pear to the direction of the tour a suspense. If it is a walking tour, it is to see the city, not a garden outside, which is better to see at night.

Very good guide with clear description

Overall experience was good only bit rush take pics as only given twenty mins and the view was so good
