Full description

Discover one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and the remains of the former capital of the kingdom of Mauretania on a full-day tour from Fes.

Following a pickup from your hotel in Fes, enjoy an easy transfer by air-conditioned vehicle to the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Explore the remains of the 2000-year-old complex. Continue to Moulay Idriss to discover one of Morocco's holiest cities.

Take a tour of the narrow streets of the compact town where Moulay Idriss I introduced the religion of Islam in 789 AD. Then, transfer to the city of Meknes, founded in the 11th century by the Almoravids as a military settlement.

Go into the Medina and see some of the monumental city gates and ornamental decorations of the Spanish-Moorish architecture.

Tour the city walls, and stop at the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, founder of the Alaouite dynasty and sultan when Meknes was the capital city. Visit the Museum of Moroccan Art to see a wide variety of handicrafts. Before the afternoon transfer back to Fes.

Everything was ok. The driver was super talkative and friendly, he was on time and efficient on giving us the best guide in Volubilis and Meknes. It has been a bit confusing to speak four languages all mixed up but it seems to be a common Moroccan style to speak with tourists.

We really liked this tour as it was not too far from Fez. It was really interesting but definitely choose the option to include the guide. You will get a guide for Volubilis and another one for Meknes. If you don't, you will have to pay for a guide over there, so it might be mkre complicated. We wouldn't have learned about a lot of things if we didn't have a guide. Definitely recommend it!

The drive was comfortable and very entertaining with Hachim and a good driver! Hachim Kept everyone laughing and his language skills are excellent along with wonderful music which helps with this long drive. Volubilis was very interesting and the guide spoke Spanish so that was helpful. Meknes was closed up due to the Friday holiday but a tour guide might’ve been helpful although we found the Dar Jamai Music museum was open and that was in a beautiful Riyadh with garden and wonderful exhibits! The lunch stop had a fixed price for a full meal, however, you can ask for the à la carte menu and I got a salad instead of a full meal. I think taking lunch in Moulay Idris if allowed would have been more interesting
