Full description
Throughout history adventurers have been drawn to the extreme reaches of our planet. On this extraordinary day trip, you will have the chance to walk in the footsteps of explorers before you as you cross the Arctic Circle and enjoy stunning views of Alaska as you've never seen it before. The day begins at 8:00 AM from your hotel, where you will be transported to the Trans-Alaska-Pipeline. Here you can glance one of the world's largest pipelines, which stretches over 800 miles (1,287 km). It is a crude oil pipeline privately owned by the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, and here you will learn the engineering and building process of this epic land-crawling beast. After a short visit to the pipeline, stop for breakfast at a rustic truck stop sitting atop a lovely hilltop. After the meal, you'll cross the mighty Yukon River before arriving at Finger Mountain. Here you will enjoy a beautiful hike on a spectacular high plateau far above the tree line. Finally, arrive at the Arctic Circle. Here you will have your picture taken and receive your very own Arctic Circle Certificate. After some time in this lovely land, venture back across the Yukon River, where you'll have the chance to walk right up to its mighty banks. Have a nice dinner before heading back. You will arrive back in Fairbanks by 10:00 PM.

The day was as long as advertised - 14 hours - but more fun & enjoyable than we expected. Our guide Josh was excellent! He’s jubliant to be an Alaskan living the life, and we enjoyed very much his energy, friendliness, knowledge, happiness and stories. It was a long drive to the Artic Circle and back home, but there were plenty of planned stops along the way to potty & stretch our legs. Learned more than we thought we would about the Pipeline. The views we had of the vast, beautiful, wild landscapes instilled awe, and somehow hope & optimism too. This tour is a good option for folks who want to see lots of wide open natural beauty and can handle a long time in a van with strangers (we enjoyed very much sharing the day our 4 trip-mates) while traveling on (mostly) rough, unpaved roads. Josh expertly navigated the road, but we still hit hard bumps, & endured long stretches of rattling over smaller ones. For us, a great day! An a souvenir certificate to boot! Thank you Josh!

Our guide Justin was great. Very knowledgeable. Good driver. Unfortunately, we only saw one red fox during our trip, but the weather was a factor. It was rainy and drizzly. Dalton Highway was muddy and had a billion potholes but Justin got us to the Artic Circle and back all safe and sound.

Very fun!! Our driver, Paul, gave us lots of history and funny stories down and back. Dalton Highway is no joke, so if you get motion sickness bring something for it! And get something from the Yukon Base camp. I didn't see Arctic Circle souvenirs from anywhere else but there.
