The original Wembley Stadium was built in 1923 and since then has become an iconic place for music and sporting events right up to the present day. Here's some information on the stadium's colorful past.
The main purpose of the original stadium was football matches. It has been the site of many FA Cup finals as well as other matches.
After being chosen to host the Olympics in 1944, the games had to be cancelled due to WWII. And so in 1948, post-war, these games became known as the 'Austerity Games.'
One of the most iconic moments in musical history. In 1985 this 16-hour-long concert, held simultaneously in Philadelphia, became known as 'the day that changed the world.'
After Live Aid, in 1986, Queen returned to Wembley to play two nights. This iconic stage show also turned out to be the band's final show before Freddie Mercury’s' death.
This tour broke records as Jackson sold out the stadium 7 nights in a row with a total audience number of 504,000!
Beyond being open for various sporting and music events throughout the year, the stadium is open for tours 12 months a year and 7 days a week with the exception of certain event dates. Tours depart at 10:00AM, 11:00AM, 12:00PM, 1:00PM, 2:00PM, 3:00PM and 4:00PM with pre-booking always advised.
Cost of sporting and music events is variable. Advance purchase tours of the stadium cost £17 for Adults, £10 for Children/Seniors and £45 for a Family Ticket (2+2). If you wish to pay on the day, tours cost £19 for Adults and £11 for Children/Seniors (a Family Ticket is not applicable on the day).
Easy and convenient to not have to buy tickets but just scan the pass to get in :-). Great value for money if you do a lot of things and go to a lot of attractions in the period of time that you purchase the pass for. We went on Easter Weekend so there were a lot of lines everywhere which took an hour to get into anything so we made a tiny bit less use of the pass. But it still worked out to be better value than buying it all individually. And helped us simply tick the major attractions off our list for London and made us feel like we really saw the important things in London with the pass! Only thing is that we had to go collect our physical passes from a place near Leicester Square in the morning so that also ate up a chunk of time and cost just getting there. So prepare for that chunk of time to pick it up instead of going straight to your first activity. It would be great if they could email a voucher or the passes to us instead.
We bought the London Pass for 2 days on a 4 days trip so we could bunch up all the attractions that were included in it. Still wish they had the London Eye or The Shard in the list. Great for skipping the lines at Westminster Abbey. Pro tip: if you go to Shakespeare's Globe, go in the morning because usually in the afternoon there are live plays and you cannot get the tour. The book they give you doesn't say this.
What isn't clearly drfined in the listing above the Skip The Line sites, which is about 8. While there is a symbol the voucher guide the list is dense and underwhelming when a popular site doesn't have this feature. I'll will say the Tower of London and Churchill War Cabinet museums had the Skip thr line feature and eell worth the money for thise 2 alone.
Fantastic service . We used many of the different lines. All the guides were lovely , cheerful, funny and very welcoming. Great entertainment as we saw all of London
The ticket was not avaidable on tje 2nd day with the app, i was lucky that i printed it aswell otherwise i would not be able to use it any more.
