Full description
Explore the ancient city of York on a thoroughly modern bike with an entertaining and knowledgeable guide. This tour will take you off the beaten track to fascinating historic places you won’t see on a typical bus or walking tour. You will travel at a safe and leisurely pace, staying on cycle paths and designated lanes for most of the ride.

York has always been a magnet for visitors. There were the Romans, of course, who first settled in the area in AD 71. In the 9th century, the Vikings dropped in for an eventful 200-year stay. The year 1068 saw the arrival of the besieging forces of William the Conqueror, and in the 17th century, York was a hotspot in the English Civil War.

Although today’s residents much more fun to be around, those of the past have all left their marks and their stories. Although factual, the cycle tours are designed as a good-humored look at the fascinating and often grisly past of York. The tours take about 2 hours, and our average traveling speed is 900 years an hour.

Absolutely brilliant fun!! I chose the bike tour for something to do for my husbands 50th birthday whilst visiting York for the weekend with our friends. Our original tour day was due to rain, Get Your Guide moved it to the following day with no problem at all. The four of us had a blast riding around York on our bikes for 3 hours, seeing & hearing about all York's history. Three hours seems a long time but it went really fast! Andy our guide was great fun & extremely knowledgeable. Thank you Andy for making it memorable & for Daves gift:-) Di, Dave (50+1), Mark & Amanda x

Absolutely fantastic!

Thoroughly enjoyed this bike ride around York. Despite the pouring rain and freezing cold, we still massively enjoyed it - Cecil did offer to move to later in the day or a different day when the weather would be better but we were leaving York that afternoon so he bared the bad weather for us and he was lovely! We did the full tour and it was definitely our highlight of York! Cecil is a genuinely great guy and made all the history interesting and memorable. I honestly can not recommend enough and would even do the tour again when we go back to York.

Excellent way to see the city of York and very good vaue for money.

2 1/2 hour bike ride around York on confortable easy to ride bikes. 7 miles at a very leisurely pace. Cecil was an excellent guide. Lots of information on historical sites and events told in an interesting and entertaining way. We were lucky to be the only ones on the tour. Having done a guided walk the previous day Cecil adapted our route so we saw and heard about different parts of York. Very good value for money. Clear directions and easy to find meeting point. An easy way to travel a reasonable distance and see as much as possible as we were only in York for the 2 days.
