Full description
Meet your local guide at the iconic MDM Square, a Communist time capsule with architecture that represents the epitome of the socialist realism fantasy that influenced urban planning in Poland during the aftermath of the Second World War. Your friendly local guide will give you the lowdown on the significance of the sculptures and buildings and tell you stories about life in Warsaw during the communist era.

After that dose of local history, you will visit the oldest (and best) tap bar in Warsaw to try some beer and Polish snacks. Then stop at one of the most popular and reputable beer sanctuaries in Warsaw where you will taste four different types of beer. You will then check out a strange monument that starts underneath your feet and finishes leading up to the sky. It is strongly connected to the former Central Office of Press Control, Publications, and Spectacles (a fancy name for the censorship bureau). Here your guide will chat about banned books, ignored writers, false reality, freedom of speech -- all topics that are still very relevant in today’s world of ‘fake news.’

Continuing with the Cold War theme, your evening stroll will come to an end at Party's House, the monumental seat of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party before 1989. This incredible place is full of curiosities. It was built using ‘voluntary’ donations that the local people were actually obligated to give. Ironically, it’s a symbol of a socialistic economy but nowadays it is the home of the Warsaw Stock Exchange and Financial Center. The tour ends here but before you go, do not forget to ask your local guide for more tips on what else to see, do and eat during your stay in the city.
