What people are saying about V&A Waterfront

It was an emotional, but remarkable tour MUST SEE!

The ferry made me motion sick it was rocking back and forth a lot so if you have motion sickness it’s recikkended you take pills. When we arrived at the island the 1st part of the tour was ok a bus where they stopped and explained buildings within the camp. I couldn’t get good pictures due tothe windows and other passengers on the bus. The best part of the tour was getting the story told from someone who was actually a prisoner on the island. It was very heart felt. He was an open book and although his story is sad he did not make you pity him because he made it clear that he has forgiven those who oppressed him and he just wants to make sure the story is told correctly. He did an outstanding job holding the crowd attention but also being personable I would strongly recommend this tour

Great township-tour, high recomendation!

Great tour with very interesting insight into history and live nowdays. Great guides, well organized and perfectly on time. We were concerned at first if it is ok to visit townships as a tourist, in order not to be a kin d of poverty-sightseer, but this concernes were all quicly dispelled, we hat the impression that people in townships aprechiate the interest and attention (and of course money) these tours bring and we had a very impressive tour and only plesant encounters in this area. the robben island tour was unfortunately cancelled due to heavy winds, but it was no problem to rescedule or to get a refund.

Township and Robben Island Combination Tour Reviewed by Anonymous, 12/03/2018

Fascinating, sobering, saddening, optimistic experience

I remember the dreadful days of apartheid and reading about the sentences given to brave people who fought for basic civil rights in their own homeland. I’m proud that an Australian Prime Minister, Bob Hawke, was instrumental in the embargoes that helped finally break this hideous regime. Mandela was but one of the heroic souls who endured and the wives and children knew tremendous suffering too. A sobering, saddening but ultimately inspiring experience.

Everything went well however very much over priced

Too expensive! Face value of the Robbenisland ticket is 360 Rand, approx. € 22,50. We paid €98,06 for 2 tickets. An uber ride from hotel to the ferry is about €4,00. So the real expences were €49,00. Shame on the broker. The Robbenisland tour was excellent! But that is not the broker doing that!

Entire experience was excellent and educational.

Pick up directions unclear, said pick up at 11:15. We waited until 11:35 and the Ubered to the port. Driver called us at 11:40 and said he was at our hotel and that the pick Up time was 11:15 to 11:45. Very confusing. But eventually straightened out and didn’t harm the overall experience.
