Toulouse is a French city several hundred miles southwest of Paris. It sits on the River Garonne and is known as one of France's Pink Cities because of the distinctive reddish color of its brick architecture.

Visit the site of the Roman Catholic St Etienne Cathedral, mentioned as the location of a church as far back as the year 844. Construction of the cathedral began in 1073 and has continued for centuries since. Try to distinguish the various styles of architecture.

Canals from the 17th century criss-cross the region around Toulouse. The Canal du Midi is a long canal stretching that connects the Garonne River to both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The Canal de Brienne is a shorter canal that connects the Garonne River with the Canal de Garonne and the Canal du Midi.

The Pont Neuf or "New Bridge" was built in the sixteenth century to cross the River Garonne – the openings between the piers are supposed to represent the mane and face of a lion.

Plan on a long excursion to the Botanical Gardens – you'll explore for hours.

Do some sightseeing at the Modern Art Museum – the Hôtel d'Assézat has one of the largest private collections of modern art in Europe that is open to the public.

What people are saying about Toulouse

Excellent value for money. Convenient when using public transport

Our cards were ready for us to collect when we went to the Tourist Office. However, had we known in advance, we could probably have collected them from our hotel. Despite having an empty box to request where the pass could be collected, no 'suggestions' were forthcoming. I was advised that I could not collect them from the airport when I entered that in the box. Detailing planning of visits sometimes required to prevent disappointment on Mondays when some museums are shut. The use of the card, albeit we had a Premium, alleviated any necessity to search for cash or credit cards when hopping on and off public transport or entering attractions.

The hop-on-hop-off tour gives a good overall view of Toulouse

When I booked this tour in April it was because I couldn't find a hop-on-hop-off tour in Toulouse. I thought that a stay-on-the-bus tour would be better than no tour at all. When we arrived in Toulouse, we found that this company now runs ho-ho tours, for E16 per person, and that is what we did. However, you charged us E52 for 2 tickets, and didn't advise us that this was now the ho-ho tour. Very unimpressed with your money-making mark-up prices. You also told us we would need to show our passports, so I had to carry them around all day. Will not be recommending you.

Excellent tour of Toulouse highlights and history.

Silvanna was awesome. She was pleasant, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about Toulouse, the city she lives in and loves. Walking around Toulouse with her was a rewarding and entertaining experience. She knew a lot, answered our questions, suggested a wonderful place for lunch afterwards. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to get to know the city better. Our only regret was that we didn’t have more time to explore some of the things she pointed out on the tour as we left the city afterwards. Thank you Silvanna!!

The guide was extremely knowligable and easy to talk to

I've had guides before that really just want to get you in and out. Because I was on my own we enjoyed each others company and spoke of many things. While we talked he was able to tailor the experience just for me. I would highly recommend this to anyone experiencing a new city. Toulouse is one of my favorite cities but it was great to have been exposed to more of the region.

If you can ride a bike this tour is really fantastic.

The electric bikes make this tour so much easier than traditional bikes and are really easy to use. The guide, Yannick, speaks excellent English and has a brilliant grasp of the history and geography of the city. He illustrates his talk with old photographs. I haven’t ridden a bike for years, and am certainly not young, but this tour is one I would do again.
