Located in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark is the 170-year-old Tivoli Gardens. It is said that this amusement park was built so that the kingdom’s citizens would think less about politics, and so it remains a wonderland to leave worries at the door.
This century-old wooden roller coaster is sometimes called Bjergbanen or “The Mountain Coaster,” and it is one of the oldest operating wooden roller coasters in the world.

You’ll find the longest single view panel in Europe right below the grand Concert Hall, home to 1,600 beautiful marine fish.
From cabaret to ballet, Tivoli has fantastic entertainment. Classical music lovers should visit at the end of the summer for Tivoli Festival and each fall there’s Music Week.
There’s no shortage of eateries here. Leave greasy fair food at home with Tivoli Gardens Copenhagen restaurants ranging form Italian to traditional Danish smørrebrød.
Depending on your interests—dinner, entertainment, rides—there’s a few inclusive options to choose from. Pay the Tivoli Gardens entrance fee alone or get a wristband for unlimited rides. Admission is free for children under eight.
Because the amusement park is located right next to the Copenhagen Central Station and a ten minute walk from City Hall, walking around the area is especially rewarding. Explore the beautiful city as it should be—walking along the canal admiring the Nordic architecture.
The experience wouldn’t be complete without knowing something about the place. The founder, Georg Carstensen, was able to get King Christian VIII on board with the Tivoli gardens amusement park by saying, “When the people are amusing themselves, they do not think about politics.”

What people are saying about Tivoli Gardens
No need to book ahead for a weekday in May, and “skipping the line” at Tivoli just means you go to the prepaid line for your ticket, unnecessary in May, and you still have to go to one of the two entrances staffed by humans, which may involve a long trek around the exterior of the Gardens (which are spectacular in tulip season, and tranquil on a weekday). The canal cruise was very nice, with comfortable seating inside and out, lots of great architecture and interesting boats to see. Bring anything you’ll want to drink (or eat) on board. Affable crew, but they gave up quickly when so many headsets didn’t work. Don’t forget your camera.
We purchased a 48 hour bus, boat and Tivoli pass for a pre-cruise visit to Copehagen. The boat tour was the best as we drifted through the back street canals seeing how the locals live. The bus tour was a typical bus tour hitting all the major sites and the visit to Tivoli Park was a highlight. Our group of five was very pleased with this 'excursion'. P.S. You must take your paper ticket to the City Tour Office at the canal to convert it to a HoHo Pass. It was a piece of cake.
The Copenhagen Tivoli Gardens fast track entry ticket was not as described. The venue has one line that devolves into 4 lines at the entry point.thus the description fast track is misleading and deceptive. The entry is effectively the same for all entrants to Copenhagen Tivoli Gardens. Despite this marketing embellishment we very much enjoyed the visit to Tivoli Gardens Copenhagen. It was a beautiful day out thank you.
It was a great bonus that the two day HOHO included a shuttle to our cruise ship on the morning of our third day! Thanks We l9ved that this qualified as one of four HOHO tours that gave us a free trip in Helsinki.. save your receipts from the other tours to show the driver.
Didn't have to worry about money, credit card, currency. Free to choose any attractions I'd like to ride and even could ride for a second and thrid time when there was no line. Peace of mind and helped me to enjoy even more my day!
