What people are saying about Thessaloniki
We were especially pleased because the only day we had available for this trip from Thessaloniki was a Saturday, and our hotel could only find a possibility on Thursdays. So we booked on line, paid and got our vouchers (printed off by the hotel) and everything went well thereafter. We were met by our guide Olga on the dot and our comfortable minibus arrived on time. We arrived at the sites relatively early so there were no crowds and we had plenty of time to look round both sites and museums; the one at Vergina was really excellent. Our guide then took us to a nearby restaurant for a good lunch. Because our party numbered about 15 people it was a very friendly atmosphere, which add to our enjoyment. We were dropped off in Thessaloniki at a convenient place at the time we had been promised. Other members of the group also had not been helped by their hotel to make the trip, so this organisation needs to become known in more hotels in the city, A very good experience.
The guide Helena was very nice but her English could be better. She saved the front places for us ane we want to thank her for that.
First let me say unlike the tour I had to Meteora, I have no negative comments for this one. First, the Guide, Demitra (SP?), was exceptionally knowledgeable of the contents of the museum and sites and was also professional in keeping the group together and on schedule. The bus was on time from start to finish. The graves and the museum over them was incredible. Even the lunch stop was good.
We wanted to get familiar with the city first day we were visiting, and the tour was great for that. We had a toddler with us and our guide was so helpful and accommodating with that and she planned a great overview of things to do in the city. This is a great option for families on vacation.
Although I found it was interesting, informative and picturesque, a little more of the history of Thessaloniki up to the present date would have been great. Also look out for the branches of trees if sitting on the top deck. One branch took off my glasses which were sitting on top of my head. Thank you to the British lady sitting behind me who captured them.
