What people are saying about The Wharf
The Old Town Trolley makes a constant loop around the major sights in D.C. Get on or off at your own pace - excellent way to set your own schedule and have an informative, entertaining, knowledgeable driver/guide on every bus. With a map of all the stops, you can see the major "must see" places in D.C. at a very comfortable pace. The buses were clean, comfortable, safe, and enjoyable. Best experience. I have been to D.C. 19 times in my life - I took someone with me who had never been to D.C. with me this time and the Old Town Trolley was perfect for entertaining and informing a first time visitor - I will get tickets for the Trolley every time I go back.
Not enough upfront information - had to call twice to find location of the boat as telephone number on the e-ticket was incorrect therefore received wrong info. Called another number night before the tour and fortunately Cassandra was most helpful giving the correct info. Luckily we were staying on The Wharf had we been staying across town things would not have worked out. Also no indication that the boat trip took 1-1/2 hrs each way not leaving enough time to fully enjoy the mansion and gardens.
Our intention was to just ride the loop around the monuments. We had very limited time to hop on and off, but I am sure it would have been very nice. It was rainy early on, but then it became very nice later. The ride hit all the places she wanted to see "just like on TV as she said! We had a lovely day in DC and even had time to shop for a souvenir or two for her to take back to France.
Although there were a few glitches due to the Cherry Blossom Festival, the bus drivers and all customer service staff really worked hard to make our trip enriching. If you come to D.C. during a really popular time of year, put some extra time into your day... it is not a bus drivers fault when the traffic is at a dead stop!
The trip was very organized and everyone was kind and helpful. We have many freedoms in this country and thanks to George Washington, one of our founding Fathers, we were able to travel to Mt Vernon and walk where he may have walked. It was amazing!
