What people are saying about The Sun Voyager
On the day of the cruise, there were electrical issues that resulted in us not getting the small yacht experience that we paid for, but rather, a large fishing vessel instead. It was still a small group, but not as fancy/cozy as I had hoped. The tour operator communicated well about this issue and offered the opportunity to rebook, but as it was our last night in Reykjavik & the forecast was favorable, we opted to go anyway. I'm glad we did! We got a FANTASTIC northern lights show and the guide on the boat was wonderful. (He even gave recommendations for a place to eat great fish & a geothermal spa that wasn't nearly as expensive or crowded as the famous Blue Lagoon.) I would give them 5 stars except for the fact that we didn't exactly get what we paid for due to the boat change - no warm blankets or wifi on board. However, the operator had friendly, helpful staff and did their best to deliver a great tour!
We had an amazing trip. The puffins were average. We had seen them on a more spectacular scale earlier in our trip. But we had a humpback whale that put on a show that competed with whales showing off for mating season in Alaska. He breached the water twice and when you see the captain pull out his camera, you know it's a spectacle. Plenty of fins flying, lots of noise. We couldn't ask for anything more. Our guide was friendly and was able to answer every random question we had. The boat was small so we weren't a large group and we got amazingly close. I can't think of a single negative. Hands down some of the best whale watching I've had anywhere. And we've been lots of places. Best of luck guys!!
A highly recommended activity to experience in Iceland. This was dream come true for me. Watching the whale was breathtaking as well as following the dolphins and seeing them jumping out of the water. Puffins were also quite special despite the fact I have to admit it wasn't the highlight of the boat ride. The boat ride was fun and adventurous and the whole activity was more enjoyable because of how friendly and fun the staff were.
It was a perfect summer day and we were lucky enough to see dolphins boat ridding with us, a humpback whale breach the water and a couple of minke whales. The staff was great, our guide was super educational and passionate about conservation and the captain gave us a cheeky speedboat spin in the harbour on the way back in. It was a great morning out.
We were lucky to see a couple of minke whales and a humpback, as well as a couple of porpoises. Our guide and captain kept going to ensure we had the experience even though we got quite far removed from the harbor. If no marine life was seen, the ride by itself was a thrill!
