What people are saying about Taormina

Roberto is an aesthete with such a passion for his subject - Sicily!

We were picked up at 10.30am by Roberto, our tour guide. As we sped along in his battered Ford he explained about the lava, it's use in building and architecture,it's fertile minerals, the importance of the sun,the wind, the rain and the old ways of making wine. We started with a small producer, meeting up with two other couples and their guides. We sampled a white, a rose and two reds, all generously poured, the perfumed white proved to be our favourite of the day. Next we went to a slightly bigger outfit where we sat down at tables and were given a light meal of foccacia, sun-dried tomatoes, aubergine pickled with celery, olives marinated with fennel, small slices of salami and cubes of cheese. Still only the three couples, we sampled a white, a rose, two reds and a red dessert wine. Lastly we went to the Gambino estate, the panoramic view was simply stunning.Pleasantly full and slightly stupified we relaxed in the back of the Ford instead worrying about the cracked windscreen!

Guide was difference between a good day and a great day

Etna was natural and beautiful and a bit of a challenge scaling, but well worth the effort . Toarmina was beautiful and the Amphitheatre is a real treasure. However the was made really great due to our guide and driver, Michael. He was very friendly, informative and gave good advice and tips about both parts of the trip. He was very punctual and gave us plenty of time and notice st Rach stop. Nothing was too much trouble and his conversation was also a nice distraction . Can’t give more praise fora great experience, Thanks Michael. From the Liverpool family

Great trip that would have been tricky to organise without the tour

We booked this trip as we wanted a nice easy way to see Mount Etna and get some info from a specialist. We were really happy with the trip, our guide Guiseppi was amazing! Really informative and positive, he seemed really happy to be our guide and genuinely interested in the subject. We did a lovely trek and saw lots of variation in landscape. And it was all topped off with lots of wine and delicious food. Plus, the boot hire was great as we hadn't come prepared for a hike. Very comfy shoes! Would definitely recommend this tour.

A bit of fun if you've read the books or seen the TV series

Our second tour with Alessio from Sicily Grand Tours. Several stops on this tour taking in some of the filming locations for the TV series and, for us, a chance to see a little bit of cities/towns which we wouldn't otherwise have done ourselves. Stops in Modica, Scicli and Punta Secca with a chance to have lunch at Enzo's. Thoroughly enjoyable day.

Great tour, lovely and knowledgable wine host, good bunch of people

Had a fantastic wine tour. The guide at the winery was lovely and really knowledgeable and passionate. Driver was nice and lots of interesting information. Wines were tasty. Lots of food! Nice group of people with different nationalities. Highly recommend. Slight annoyance was we waited ages for pick up and not told it was going to be late.
