The 7 best things to do in Stuttgart
The capital of Baden-Württemberg has come a long way since its founding as a stud farm in the 10th century. From royal palaces to the era of sleek automobiles, Stuttgart's attractions present visitors with a colorful spectrum of its history through the ages.
1. Schloss Platz
It's the city's center stage and the place to begin a day of sightseeing. The fountains that flank the King Wilhelm Jubillee Column represent the eight rivers of Baden-Württemberg.
2. New Palace
The Baroque palace dominates the Schloss Platz and was once home to the kings of Württemberg. Renovated after WWII, it serves as the Ministry of Finance and Education.
3. Old Castle
The Renaissance structure was the former residence of the Counts of Württemberg. Today, it's the State Museum and houses the crown jewels, medieval art and glasswork.
4. Solitude Palace
Duke Charles Eugene spared no expense to create this opulant, 18th-century residence. Originally built just for show, it later became a school for the children of the elite.
5. Fernsehturm Stuttgart
The two observation decks of this soaring, 1950s TV tower provide a stunning panorama of the area, including the Black Forest and the rolling mountains of the Swabian Alps.
Set amid a historical park from the 19th century, the zoo and botanical garden offer a day on the wild yet colorful side. The new African Ape House is one of its top attractions.
7. Porsche Museum
Though the avante-garde structure itself is worth a look, 80 classic Porsches on display will get any car lover's pulse racing. If you visit on your birthday, admission is free.

What people are saying about Stuttgart
Great way to see Stuttgart & what it has to offer
Easy on/off meeting location. We took the bus all the way around the loop and then went back to a couple of things. Recommend sitting on top for better views but bring a hat if it is sunny! Multiple languages offered with the audio guide (headphones & ear covers provided but you could probably bring your own too if you prefer). We felt it was well worth 15€!
Not an easy website to find where the bus starts from, and where it stops on the way. Had to do this through trip advisor. Good and polite driver. Headphones are a bit hit and miss on working. We found a seat where they did and the tour is very interesting and informative. Would recommend. We went from the Mercedes museum back to the start of the tour.
Really good and got an overview of the city!
The tour bus was great fun, staff were very helpful and got to see the sights using the hop on and hop off facility within a 24 hr period. Got to see stuff about the city and good audio in english was provided.
A great way to get to know more about the history and culture of Stuttgart. Guide Gabrielle was superb! I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
