I really looked forward to going on this tour even though it rained all day. Simon was a wonderful tour guide. He was knowledgeable, funny, and a lot of fun to walk with around on this tour all day. His knowledge of the area was tremendous. Loved seeing the older area of Colmar, and the little villages of Eguisheim and Requewihr-very charming. My Favorite thing was walking on the old cobblestone pathways in Eguisheim and seeing the beautifully preserved old homes/buildings and hearing the wine growing/producing history of the area. We ended the day at the old Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle where we walked among the ancient well preserved walls and learned of it's history. Overall, even with rain, the day was very worth every penny we spent. And again, Simon did a terrific job teaching us of the history of the area.
The tour is wonderful and you get to drive through and visit multiple small villages along the Alsace wine route. The audio guide is fantastic and our driver was very kind and professional. My only complaint is that I wish I had been notified a little more in advance that my chosen date was canceled due to being the only one to book a tour. I had to do some fast rearrangements of my trip and lost money on my original plans because of it (this is more advice for future bookings as I also understand that pandemic conditions aren't great for anybody and I feel lucky I was able to take a vacation in the first place). Other than that, I highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys full-day sight-seeing tours in an astonishingly beautiful location. The price is worth it and the pace is perfect.
our guide, Danielle[ I think], was delightful - widely knowledgeable: history of area, architecture, and any other topic raised including philosophy. She also took care to ensure everyone engaged. It was a compact trip to an Alsace village plus two more with the vignerons. Most interesting was the organic winery where the eclectic winemaker had such a broad interest in nature, loved his knowledge of subject and for the insects and animals as well as the grapes intrinsic to his craft. Fascinating trip.
Our stops were wonderful, but our guide (Oliver) really made the trip. He was pleasant, courteous, had very good english, and really knew his history. We very much enjoyed the lesson of the Alsace region, the history behind the towns and vineyards, and of course there was the castle... We will do another tour (probably wine-tasting) with your firm next time!
Definitely worth taking a day to do it! You get a thorough overview on the entire Alsace region, spend a a good amount of time in each town and get a history of the towns you drive through. The driver was friendly and really lovely! Don’t worry about any other tour. This will give you everything you need to learn about the region and see each town.
