The 7 best sightseeing spots in Strasbourg
Known as the seat of European Parliament, Strasbourg has plenty of tourism, from opera to open spaces, art to architecture. Want to know what to see here? Follow our guide for the best views, tours and destinations.

Cathedrale Notre Dame de Strasbourg
It's hard not to be impressed by one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe. The Astronomical Clock is worth a few minutes of your time, and try to stay for the light show.

Barrage Vauban
When engineering and architecture meet, the results can define a landscape - this is one of those attractions. The dam offers some of the best views in and of the city.

European Parliament
Visitors can sit in on monthly four-day plenary sessions to see democracy in action. This is free but must be booked at least two months in advance. Offered in most languages.

Petite France
Relatively quiet, even in summer, Petite France is a small cluster of medieval houses and baroque buildings on the Grande Isle of Strasbourg. Try a self-guided walking tour.

Christmas Markets
Strasbourg is known as the Capital of Christmas, and was home to the first Christmas Market in 1570. It's most festive in the evening when lit up by thousands of fairy lights.
Alsace Wine Route
This famed wine-lover's pilgrimage is a holiday in itself, tracking through vineyards from Vignoble to Strasbourg. Beautiful views of the region can be enjoyed from Couronne D'Or.

Palais de Rohan
Just meters from the cathedral, the palace contains the museums of Fine Arts, Decorative Arts and Archeology. The three-in-one ticket offers value.
Planning Your Strasbourg Visit
Moon river
There is excellent sightseeing to be had without wearing out your shoes, if you opt for a river tour. The city looks particularly magical at night, as buildings are lit up along the river.
Bored of culture? Try sport
RC Strasbourg Alsace are a popular draw to the city. The team plays football at Stadt de la Meinau and although in recent years they have not been in top form, they are one of only six teams to win all three top french football trophies. They also have a popular basketball team - Strasbourg IG.
Day tripping
Fancy an extra dose of sightseeing? A day trip will take you further afield - Strasbourg is on the German border, just two hours' drive or train from Heidelberg or two and a half from Stuttgart.

What people are saying about Strasbourg
The tour is wonderful and you get to drive through and visit multiple small villages along the Alsace wine route. The audio guide is fantastic and our driver was very kind and professional. My only complaint is that I wish I had been notified a little more in advance that my chosen date was canceled due to being the only one to book a tour. I had to do some fast rearrangements of my trip and lost money on my original plans because of it (this is more advice for future bookings as I also understand that pandemic conditions aren't great for anybody and I feel lucky I was able to take a vacation in the first place). Other than that, I highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys full-day sight-seeing tours in an astonishingly beautiful location. The price is worth it and the pace is perfect.
We booked our reservation late the night before and they had a guide ready to go last minute. There was confusion about the location of where to meet because the online directions said to meet at 16 Rue d’Austerlitz. However when we got there, the employees told us to go to a location 20 minutes by walking away. Thankfully, we got there right on time, but upon arrival, the employees told us to go back to the other location. However, our guide arrived a little later and apologized for the confusion. The actual tour was very informative and the instructor was great about teaching how to ride the segways and about the history of Strasbourg. He gave interesting facts and pointed out places that aren’t typically highlighted. Highly recommend Yves and Quentin as they were great conversationalists.
A fabulous full day visiting beautuful villages and towns decorated for Xmas. Suggested tip take an additional pair of shoes. To make the most of the trip there's lots of walking, it's would have been good to change foot wear! We liked the Riquewihr market best, it wasn't so crowded as Colmar, with a great range of stalls and shops. Eguisheim is a beautiful village with a lovely market.
Honestly it is a well organized trip, with an amazing guide “Martin”, he is nice, attentive and giving clear instructions. The time given for each stop is sufficient. It is enjoyable tour in a comfortable couch and recommended way to visit the magical small villages of the Alsace.
Tour guide was great. Took his time to help us be prepared to ride segway and made us comfortable-no rushing at all. We signed up for a 2 hour tour and I think we did over 3! Really a great way to see Strasbourg. Highly recommend.
