Overall excellent experience - prompt and efficient hotel pick up; first part is the drive in the minivan listening to the guide - both our driver and guide were so engaging, funny and informative and made the experience really interesting and exciting for the whole group; then there are stops at gellert hill, heroes square and the castle district which were all good (I was with my mother who has trouble walking, but she managed everything OK). Definitely better to be in a smaller group in a minivan instead of those big tour coaches. Overall great introduction to Budapest and gave us good ideas on where to visit next
The acoustics were amazing in the cathedral. Apparently we didn't read the brochure well enough as we thought the pipe organ was going to be the instrument used. My husband's a big fan of pipe organ music. However, the electronic organ and the acoustics for the organ as well as the flute and soloist was astounding. A little confusing as my husband also thought we would be seated closer (which was reserved somehow for other ticket holders). Our chairs were creaky wooden chairs, but the music drowned out the creaks.
We were a group of 14 people composed mostly of seniors and so our pace was a bit slow as could be expected. Our guide Mikhail was amazing and completely accommodating! We never felt rushed throughout the tour. He took us to the beautiful sites of Budapest and explained the history and stories behind the sites. He was very engaging and lively. Perfect tour if you only have a few short days in the city.
that was NOT A PRIVATE TOUR as advertised. It’s was 7 in our group and many more joined us on a tour. Also, thebus didn’t pick us up at the hotel, we had to walk pretty far to it’s location and get transferred to another bus for actual tour, and our tour was in 2 languages, because half of the bus was of Italians. Overall walk and transfer killed about 1 hour. Not very professional and misadvertised.
The organ concert was great, the building was softly lit on arrival which made a lovely atmosphere. While the organ solo’s were interesting, the several duets with the flutist and singer made for a different and enjoyable concert. Only downside would be that at the end of the concert we were very quickly ushered out the building.
