Full description
Start your tour by discovering St. Isaac's Cathedral, commissioned by Tsar Alexander I in 1918 and built in celebration of the victory over Napoléon. Marvel at the grand facades, richly decorated with beautiful sculptures. Step inside to explore the cathedral features, painstakingly detailed mosaics and vibrant columns of striking green malachite and blue lapis lazuli.

Continue your tour at the equally magnificent Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, constructed between 1801 and 1811. See the incredible exterior stone colonnade, inspired by that of the iconic Roman Basilica, and its landscaped garden and central fountain. Head inside to see the cathedral's interior, adorned with columns, sculptures and religious icons.

Finish your tour with a visit to a symbol of nationalism, the Church of Our Saviour on Spilled Blood. Find out how it was built on the spot where Alexander II was killed, discover its outstanding mosaics and brilliantly ornate domes on the facade of this majestic church. Inside, see the exceptionally beautiful marble flooring, elaborate mosaics and gilded columns.

A chance to walk to the three cathedrals and have other buildings of interest pointed out on the way. Our guide also told us where the points of interest we wanted to visit were located, which was really helpful. We learnt a lot about Russian history - hopefully after all the tours we've done we should remember at least some of it. Beware the people in animal suits at the meeting point, Alexander's column, in Palace Square - if they offer to take a selfie say 'no'! ~They don't tell you how much it will cost.

A comprehensive look at three wonderful cathedrals in St Petersburg

We learned a lot about Russian history from our guide and she navigated the crowds well so that we got a comprehensive experience at each site. She was a late arriving at our meeting point. Another tour guide kindly called the tour office to confirm she was still coming.
