Planning Your Sorrento Visit

What to eat in Sorrento?

Sample a limoncello or a drink that favors the citrus flavor of a Sorrento lemon. The region has some succulent lemon trees. We also recommend trying the local olive oil while you're sightseeing in Sorrento.

How to get around Sorrento?

Sorrento on foot is very scenic but if your feet hurt hop onto a city bus or train. You can also hire a taxi. To take a day trip, we recommend the trains and buses, though renting a car could be a fun way to see more of the landscape.

What people are saying about Sorrento

Entire experience was just as advertised! Pick up & drop off at hotel,

great boat with full bow sunpad. Light lunch was tasty mozzarella cheese on sandwich rolls with tomato. Our captain & first mate took us INTO the green grotto (with “touch the rock” for good luck), white grotto (pointing out the natural rock statue inside), under the arch of the Fraglionni rocks (with music playing on the boat so true loves could kiss—and single ladies could “kiss the first mate”), and did the snorkeling. Also took the stern up under a waterfall so anyone who wanted to could get up under it. Answered any questions. Also suggested and set up a small tour bus to meet us at the dock to take us to Capri center & Anacapri for an extra 15 euros (optional). Definitely worth it unless you split cost of a taxi with some others. Do spend most of your time at Anacapri (not Capri) if you are just there for the four hours & take chair lift to the top of it. Your feet dangle over beautiful natural wildflower gardens all the way up (we went end of June) and the views are so lovely.

Great trip, beautiful scenery. Skipper was a fun guy.

Overall, this was very good. There were 10 or 12 of us onboard, some sat on the bow, we sat at the back to get some shade and we met some really lovely people. The Skipper of the boat was a fun guy and told us some facts as we passed interesting places. It really is the way to see the Amalfi coast. You can get a bus but that looks a very precarious road along those cliffs. Lunch was a bread roll filled with cheese and tomato. Tasty enough and easy to serve and eat on the boat. Water, soda and beers were also provided. No complaints really. The stars of the show are the Med and the Amalfi coast. How else do you get the full effect of the stunning beauty of this area? And to be able to swim in the Med off the side of a boat is a rare treat, my partner particulary enjoyed this and went back in for seconds! We had just over an hour each in Amalfi town and Positano. Long enough to get a flavour of them and grab a gelato. This is a fun day-long activity and well worth doing.

WONDERFUL EVENING. CAME AS FRIENDS - LEFT AS FAMILY

A WONDERFUL AND EDUCATIONAL EVENING. LEARNED CHEF TONY'S FAMILY SECRETS TO MAKING SUPERB JUICY MEAT BALLS, DELICIOUS PERFECT PASTA, INCREDIBLE BUT SIMPLE TOMATO SAUCE AND UNBELIEVABLE TIRAMISU. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS LIGHT AND FUN AND BY THE END OF THE NIGHT ALL OF OUR SMALL GROUP (FROM CANADA, FLORIDA, PITTSBURGH AND AUSTRALIA ) SHARED A SPECIAL KIND OF BOND THAT ONLY FOOD AND COOKING CAN CREATE. OUR TALENTED AND CONGENIAL CHEF, TONY AIELLO, GUIDED US THROUGH EVERY STEP AS WE PREPARED OUR TRADITIONAL ITALIAN DINNER. ALSO, CHEF TONY'S STAFF WAS SO VERY ENTHUSIASTIC AND HELPFUL TOO WHICH REALLY ADDED TO THE EVENING. ALONG THE WAY WE WERE TREATED TO PROSECCO, RED WINE, WHITE WINE, ASSORTED CHEESES AND SALUMI. BEST PART WAS WHEN WE GOT TO EAT OUR DELICIOUS MEAL - AND I GOT SECONDS! THANK YOU TONY AND THE GUYS FOR AN EXCEPTIONAL EVENING.

Great option to see Positano and Amalfi.

This was a great tour. Picks you right up in sorrento. Be prepared some of the pickup locations serve many different tours, so make sure to pay attention to which bus you’re getting on. They do a good job checking everyone in and made extra effort to have everyone. Then you are driven by bus about 45 minutes to Nerano port then depart for Amalfi first and Positano second. Maria was great on the bus telling us about each stop and good plans for spending your time. She headed to Capri with the other tour but we had Carolina on the boat to guide us. They did well to show you everything as you boat by. The boat is a great way to see the towns as you approach. Plenty of time was given in each port and chance to explore the towns.

Unbelievable experience and tour guide Flavio was amazing

Unbelievable experience! Our tour guide Flavio was exceptional, he spoke to everyone to make us feel comfortable and made sure that everyone got to what they wanted to do. We were fortunate enough to do all the main things of Capri; blue grotto, main strip of Capri, chairlift in Anacapri, Faraglioni, green grotto and white grotto. Truly an unbelievable experience and would definitely recommend this tour, especially with the tour guide Flavio. Worth paying a bit extra for this tour.
