Full description
Enter the Sienna Cathedral and admire one of the foremost masterpieces of renaissance art and architecture. Consecrated in 1179, the cathedral is notable for its elaborately decorated dome, as well as its magnificent polychrome marble façade. Gaze at elaborate altarpieces, a sculpture by Michelangelo, and all manner of ornate decorations.

Afterwards, head to the Piccolomini Library, which contains a sprawling series of 10 frescoes by Pinturicchio chronicling the life of Pope Pius II. Gaze upwards at the domed ceiling, masterfully adorned with complex patterns and further scenes from the pope’s life. All the while, escape the long lines by buying a ticket in advance, complete with skip-the-line access.
