Full description
Follow an expert guide and discover the fascinating history of the Hospital de los Venerables (Hospital of Venerable Priests), a baroque jewel located in the Santa Cruz neighborhood of Seville. See the impressive restoration of its interiors and exteriors and visit its historic permanent art collection.

Begin the tour with a guided walk through the Santa Cruz neighborhood before arriving at the former hospital, which was founded by Justino de Neves for retired and sick priests in the 17th century.

Enter through the former’s watchman's house that gives direct access to the grand cloister. Admire the paintings that decorate the walls of the building’s church made by the painter Valdés Leal and his son Lucas Valdés.

See the beautiful sculptural works of Martínez Montañes and Pedro Roldán, who are considered to be the greatest Baroque image-makers of Seville.

After visiting the church temple, you will walk through the patio of Doña Elvira that inspired José Zorilla for the creation of Don Juan Tenorio.

Next, visit the Velázquez Center to enjoy great works of religious Baroque art from the 17th century portrayed by renowned artists such as Velázquez, Murillo, Zurbarán, and Pacheco.

Lastly, go up a wonderful staircase under an exceptional Mudejar-styled coffered ceiling and enter the Baroque-style library leading to a contemporary painting center.
