Full description
Native to California's Northern Coast, the Sequoia Sempervirens, also known as the Coastal Redwoods, is the world's tallest living things. With the ability to grow up to 379 feet, these trees are unique to this part of the world and can live for over 1,000 years. Established in 1908 through the efforts of local conservation groups and then president Teddy Roosevelt, the Muir Woods National Monument stands today as a living memorial to one of America's greatest conservationists - the writer, and naturalist John Muir.

Your morning Alcatraz and afternoon Muir Woods adventure starts daily in Fisherman's Wharf at 8:00 AM. This combo ticket also includes a visit to the infamous Alcatraz Island. Once considered the prison of American prisons, Alcatraz is a must-see in San Francisco. The fantastic Alcatraz combo ticket allows you guaranteed entry onto the Alcatraz Ferry and the official Alcatraz Island tour. Alcatraz and history go hand in hand. Once home to some of America's most notorious criminals, the federal penitentiary that operated here from 1934 to 1963 brought a dark mystique to The Rock. The tour includes ferry access to and from the Island and a complimentary, award-winning audio tour available in 8 different languages.

You will arrive at Muir Woods National Monument where you will be provided with your park entry ticket and have 1.5 hours to self-explore the park. With more than 50 miles of trails branching out in all directions, you can choose to stroll peacefully across the shaded, paved pathway on the valley floor or tackle a more rigorous hike along the hillside.

Complete your experience with a scenic drive through the coastal mountains on the Marin Headlands and Sausalito. Enjoy sweeping views of the San Francisco Skyline and the Pacific Coast as you cross the Golden Gate and return to Fisherman's Wharf. You can choose to end your tour in Sausalito to eat and shop and take the ferry back at your own expense.

Amazing tour - with a wonderful guide

My husband, son and I had a wonderful day, visiting Alcatraz and Muir Woods ending up in Sausolito. Alcatraz was very interesting and at the same time scary, Muir woods was beautiful and peaceful, and yes Sausolito where we also stayed during our trip is jus at very cosy village. Our guide did a very good job. Told us lots of facts and lots of funny stories too. His name was Guillermo Madrigal - go with him if you can;-))

Overpriced but only way to go to Alcatraz on short notice.

The voucher that we received was a bit misleading as it said we had to be there by 8:30, but our tour to Alcatraz didn't start until 10:30. Our tour to Muir Woods was supposed to start at 2:00, which did not give us much time for the tour of Alcatraz including the ferry wait time, getting back to the meeting point, etc. Sausalito was only 20 minutes which was also not made clear on the voucher. Also the bus driver was about a half hour late going to Muir Woods.

The upside was that our guide was very nice and informative. And the attractions we saw were great. However, The way the ticketing works wastes time and doesn’t make sense as you have to go multiple times and exchange tickets (the day before and the day of) Also, the order is the tours (Muir Woods, Sausalito and Alcatraz) did not allow you to stay in Sausalito as described. You only get off for 15 minutes and then back on the bus to get back for Alcatraz tour. The information on website is not accurate in that regard.
