Full description
Day 1: San Francisco to South Lake Tahoe

After departing San Francisco, you’ll head through California’s capital city, Sacramento, through the Sierra foothills, and into the famous "Gold Rush Country". You'll crest a high mountain pass within the Sierra Nevada mountains before winding your way through large pine forests and dramatically descending into South Lake Tahoe.

Once in Tahoe, stretch your legs on a short hike before settling down in your choice of accommodation. Later in the evening, grab dinner as a group and watch the sun set over the crystal-clear waters of Lake Tahoe.

Day 2: Full Day Lake Tahoe

Wake up early on the 2nd day to take advantage of a full day near, on, or in Lake Tahoe. The calm mornings on the lake are the perfect time to enjoy a guided kayak tour, or to beat the crowds and take a quiet hike around picturesque Emerald Bay or to the top of a mountain. You can spend the late afternoon exploring the shops of downtown South Lake Tahoe, gambling at the casinos in Nevada (Tahoe is right on the state border), or enjoying a stroll around the lake's shoreline.

Day 3: Lake Tahoe to Reno

Today you’ll have the chance to head out for a hike or hang out on a beach before you get back on the road. Driving around the lake will provide you with a whole new view of this magnificent blue wonder as you cross the state line and make your way to Reno, Nevada. The Biggest Little City will dazzle you with its tasty food and craft brews. Later that evening, you will have a blast exploring in Reno.

Day 4: Reno to San Francisco

Enjoy the morning in Reno, before packing up to head back to San Francisco. This afternoon, you’ll leave the Sierra Nevada Mountains before passing once more through the state’s capital city, Sacramento. You’ll follow the historic Pony Express Trail through El Dorado National Forest back to the City by the Bay, and you will be dropped off at the gateway hotel by 9:00PM.
