Full description
Visit Alcatraz and take in the top attractions of San Francisco too on this combination tour package.

The island of Alcatraz has been a U.S. Army asset as well as a federal prison, and has played a role in jailhouse folklore and the historic evolution of the West Coast.

Alcatraz has seen 14 escape attempts by over 30 prisoners. Most were caught, several were shot, and a few drowned in the chilling swells of San Francisco Bay. No one ever successfully escaped alive.

Your Premium Big Bus hop-on hop-off pass is a great way to see the sights of San Francisco. Learn more about the numerous cultures that make up this vibrant city and about its history from the early Spanish settlers through the Gold Rush and to the present day.

Listen to commentary by live English-speaking guides, or enjoy pre-recorded audio commentary in 10 languages.

Your ticket is valid for 1 full day of unlimited hop-on hop-off, 1 walking tour, and Sausalito trolley tour. Explore one of San Francisco's most fascinating neighborhoods on a fun and informative walking tour of Chinatown. The tours are offered daily, and you can ask an agent for locations and time schedules. The older gentleman guide when we got on the bus had a very gravelly, monotone voice that was hard to listen to. We had to get off and wait for another bus. That next bus had recorded male and female voices much easier to listen to and hear, but recorded doesn’t allow for the extra information a live guide can provide. And passing through tunnels made it impossible to hear the guides if they were talking at that time.

Good bus tour! Only downside was that it was too windy for us to go and see Alcatraz and the island was closed. The team at the big bus tour was super apologetic and gave us tickets to madam tousad’s to make up for it and the refund from get your guide was processed quickly. Much appreciated!

The city bus tour including the Sausalito shuttle service was good and included all the main sights. We had problems with confirming the timing of our Alcatraz tour since we were at sea cruising from Vancouver to San Francisco prior to our visit and were therefore unable to exchange our voucher 48 - 24 hrs beforehand. Since we also had no internet access during this period, we did not receive the confirmation for our Alcatraz tour timing until we arrived at the office on the day. We had been allocated a late tour at 3.20 pm and consequently had to curtail our time on the rock to catch the return ferry. We had specifically asked for a morning tour originally, but were advised that the bus company had no control over the timings on the combined booking. Hence, we may have done better to book the Alcatraz tour independently with the ferry company and not as a combo ticket. The Alcatraz self guided audio tour was well done but we could have used an extra hour to complete it fully.
