Full description
Take a tour of the ancestral and underground area of Rome. Find out how the catacombs were used in ancient time as a burial area because it was forbidden to bury or cremate corpses in the city. Depending on different closing days, visit Domitilla’s or Saint Sebastian’s or Priscilla’s Catacombs. One of the most important catacombs is Domitilla’s, which takes the name from Flavia Domitilla. Archaeological excavations discovered a cemetery originally composed of different burial chambers.

Hear about how the catacombs of Saint Sebastian were first a pagan burial site, and then reused as a cemetery. Priscilla's catacombs are one of the most ancient underground cemetery, with the first burials dating back to the second half of the 2nd century AD. This cemetery was ransacked around the 16th century so there are no tombstones, coffins, or tuff, nevertheless there are still many well-preserved paintings.

Visit the largest and oldest underground cemetery in Rome. The catacombs of St. Callixtus were the official cemetery of the Church of Rome and half a million Christians were buried there among many martyrs and popes. Admire the Crypt of St. Cecilia, the popular patron saint of music, who was martyred and entombed where the statue now lies.

The price was completely overpriced. We were 3 people. We were chauffeured in a hurry between two catacombs. With admission prices of € 48 for both catacombs, the taxi was almost very expensive at almost € 270. The catacomb tour was then carried out by a pack of people, each lasting only 30 minutes.

This tour does not contain what is in the item description !! You are picked up and driven to the Katatkomben San Callisto and San Sebastian, lying next to each other. The crypts (located in the middle of Rome, near the Barberini Metro) are not included. The excursion should last 4 hours, after 2.5 we were back. After lying back and forth on the phone with Roma Travel (who does this for Getyouguide). we were then driven to the crypts. The rest went at my own expense. After complaints we got back 50% of the price. Despite everything, you can do it yourself with BIG BUS or similar. make your own fist. During the tours we were simply guided through the Katatkomben with the standard tour. There is no German guide for the Krytpen. The 50% is too little for the whole theater. Went without any problems, but I'm actually used to personal tours from GYG. Otherwise I can organize it myself. Sorry but that was a complete bankruptcy !!!
