Full description
Travel back to the days of the Roman Empire on a half-day guided tour of the main monuments of Ancient Rome.

Meet your guide by the Colosseum, and start your tour in the greatest amphitheater built by the Romans. Your guide will bring 2,000 years of history to life, telling stories of the ferocious battles between man and beast put on for Roman citizens. Commissioned by Emperor Vespasian in 72 AD, and inaugurated by his son and successor Titus in 80 AD, the ampitheater remains one of the world’s architectural marvels.

Next, follow in the footsteps of Roman emperors on a walk through the Imperial Forum, and learn how it was once the center of religious, political and commercial life in Rome. Hear the history of the Temple of Antoninus and Faustina, and learn about the Tabularium.

Go to the Temple of Hadrian, now incorporated into a later building in Piazza di Pietra. See the original Roman street level below ground in the piazza.

End at the Pantheon, the majestic temple of all Gods, commissioned by Marcus Agrippa in 27 BC. Marvel at the stunning entrance and massive interior, where marble from across the globe can be seen on the floor and walls. Used as a burial site since the Renaissance, the Pantheon’s tombs include the painter Raphael, and 2 kings of Italy.

This was a terrific tour. Our guide, Erturk Durmus, was great! He had a tremendous knowledge of Roman history. He was enthusiastic and funny. We learned so much and the tour went very fast. It was really hot that day and Erturk always found a place for us in the shade. We forgot our shawls for covering up when in the Pantheon and he even negotiated a good price from a vendor for us! Highly recommend!

Good, but lacked the fun

The guide was extremely knowledgeable, and we went away with a lot of new information about Colosseum, Forum Romanum, the Pantheon and of course on Rome. 3-hours is a perfect amount of time, but I missed the funfacts, the quirky and the small details that leaves a smile on your face.

Organized and informative tour of the major ancient sites.

Check-in was easy to find and timely. The guide was full of information about the sites visited. Due to crowds at the Easter Holiday, the Colosseum security line was tedious, but the guide filled the time interesting commentary. Entry into the Roman Forum was quick because our guided group could bypass the long line.
