What people are saying about Potsdam

Best Guided walk in Berlin - and many other places, too.

Over the past couple of weeks, my wife and I have done a number of guided walks in several European capitals. Holger Raschke, founder of Berlins Taiga, was easily the best of the bunch. We picked him to talk to us about life in the former E. Germany and guide us through East Berlin - the Red Metropolis, as he calls it. Holger's knowledge is encyclopaedic and personal: he grew up in Potsdam and can talk from memory about things like receiving gift parcels from relatives in the West. Where was he on the night the Wall came down? What were his parents doing? It's a very different perspective from the run-of-the-mill young tour guides used by the big companies. Along the way we also visited several places that ordinary tours don't bother with but which are spectacular, culminating in the Russian War Memorial at Treptower Park. Truly remarkable and I was humbled to have visited. Holger is personable and attentive, making sure that my 70-year old wife was comfortable at all times.

A nice tour, very good schedule, very very good guide!!!

My suggestion to make it an EXCELLENT tour: 1.Your stop in the DUTCH quarter is not OK. Because people is hungry, they want to take some break and some food. In that region you only can find some bakeries.... I ADVISE to stop near the Brandeburger Tor. I know in that place very nice cafés and snack-restaurants and especially very nice outside terrasses!!! 2.the bus passes the Cecilien Hof. The guide is telling a good story about it!. But you cannot see the building through the trees. I ADVISE : It must be possible to go near the building and share the place with the hearth, being a tapit of red flowers in front of the building. That picture is unforgattable. It is not necessary to enter yhe building or the garden. It does not take much time.

Very impressive - fountain not working, but a great birthday treat !

For my wife's birthday, we went to Berlin (I was there as a student in 1962 but not since); four very full days, visiting most of the major tourist sites - Reichstag, Hackesche Hofe, Museumsinsel, Berliner Dom, Gedachtniskirche, Sans Souci Palace and Potsdam, Jewish Memorial, Checkpoint Charlie, Jewish Museum, Alexanderplatz - and some wonderful meals at Entrecote Fred's, Galeries Lafayette, Hard Rock Café. Simply wonderful !

Relaxed & informative visit to the unique and lovely Sans Souci Palace

Highly recommend this tour to Frederick the Great's beautiful palace and garden, Sans Souci - 4 hours is the perfect time for a first visit to Potsdam, the tour provides an overview of the town itself by coach and a small group guided tour of the Palace - we hope to return and stay longer in Potsdam next time as we would like to explore the gardens in summer weather!

Great tour, very informative. Not for English speakers though

Excellent tour, however the guide, Sebastian, was speaking in German for a long time, and when it came to the English version he only said half. Therefore this tour is better for German speakers, for English perhaps look for another provider. However, Potsdam is lovely and the Sanssouci Palace is amazing, well worth a visit.
