What people are saying about Porto

Fun tour, beautiful views, friendly guide

This tour is probably the best tour we've done and funnest thing we've done in Portugal. All thanks to our very friendly and knowledgeable guide, Sophia, and the beautiful views/ drive. The port wines were tasty, but I would not say excellent. The pink port wine is tasty & interesting because it's not sold in the USA. The river cruise is scenic, but you're on a large, powered boat, not a small, hand-rowed boat as the description/ photos imply. Lunch was ok and drinks were provided. I felt cheated because the description stated 2 wineries, but instead we went to 1 winery and 1 olive oil ranch. We had 4 good tastings at the winery and 2 poor tastings at the olive oil ranch - the grape juice they provided tasted better than those 2 ports :-/ But Sophia's friendliness and knowledge made up for the one less winery. She explained many interesting facts with historical & scientific background. It was very easy to have a conversation with her. Sophia is a true professional guide.

An great insight on the history of Porto from a very passionate guide!

My visit to Porto was a gift to my parents and they absolutely loved it! The tour was perfect, we met at the given time and learnt so much about the history. The guide was a lovely gentleman who was very passionate about his city. He really made us feel welcomed, as my parents don’t speak English very well; he made the effort to learnt to greet them in Albanian and kept checking in on them which was very sweet. As we were the only ones from the group that had booked a cruise, he was so helpful and made sure that we got to where we needed to he and explained everything very well. Only thing I would say is that the tour finished at around 1pm therefore was not 8hrs but this was fine for my parents as it was very hot that day and they were getting tired!

Great way to see the city with a small child

This trip was really good value, the man in the office was super friendly and told us about a lovely little restaurant in the museum across the road (We had lunch here before the tour - highly recommend). The train ride was fine, much more comfortable than I thought it would be after reading the reviews. The wine cellar tour was interesting and not too long for our daughter - the tasters were a nice touch . The boat trip was lovely. Do arrive early for the boat trip, we did as advised by previous reviews and there was already a queue. The boat also left 20 minutes earlier than departure time. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful views of the countryside and good visits to wineries.

The wine and tasting at the first winery was delicious and the tour was very well done. It had beautiful facilities and was very relaxing to visit. We wish we could have better explanations at the second winery; they just briefly took us to the cellars and gave us wine to taste. However, the incredible lunch we ate there while we surrounded by the gardens and pool of the house made up for it. After going on this trip, we feel we received a very good introduction to the Douro valley. The boat trip was nice, but some might find an hour to not be enough time.

Good tour option with plenty of seats on bus and boat

Booked online choosing this tour over the more populated tour in the hope there would be fewer people on our tours and it worked really well. Bus didn’t tell you stops but following map was fine. The port tasting tour was good as was the river cruise although we would’ve preferred longer than 50 minutes. We did the 48 hour option and glad we did as we did the 2 hour bus tour on one day then the port tour and cruise the next day. The lady in the booking office was really helpful and friendly.
