What people are saying about Port Douglas
Semi submersible was good to see many thing that would be hard to see just snorkeling (eg stingray, turtles, large shelves of coral). Food was just plain not appetizing. But you get what you pay for. If you snorkel in the beginner area near the ship, the coral looks bleached and the formations and fish are very deep so it’s harder to appreciate their bright colors. If you can venture out a few meters past the beginner area, the reef is shallower and there are more schools of fish and sea life. Staff were mostly professional and helpful except for one, Maki. I hard difficulty with my swim gear and asked Maki if she had any tips and she snapped at me saying “go find someone else to ask.” Then she turned around and walked away. I don’t expect that type of customer service is tolerated by Quicksilver so I would hope that they have discussions addressing her issues.
I really enjoyed my tour of the Daintree rain forest. It was well organised and gave a great overview of this fantastic area. The group were quickly brought together and put at ease by our guide Dan, who did a fantastic job and pitched the tour at exactly the right level. All in all an excellent way to explore the Daintree with a nice combination of walks and a river cruise to see the crocs. Dan also acted above and beyond to step in and rescue a boy ( not part of our group) who had got into difficulty swimming in the Mossman Gourge.
Great trip, despite the rainy season in Cairns at this time of the year. It rained the whole day, but Jay Jay made our trip a fun and exciting one. He cared about our safety most of all, considering there was flooding in certain areas. We could not access Cape Trib beach, but this is simply because of the weather. We had a lot of fun on the trip and learned a lot about the rainforest, survival techniques and about flora and fauna. Would highly recommend this tour!
Great experience - terrific environment-skilled and helpful instructors -great food -great catamaran. Smaller groups are better. Tried a large company to snorkel the outer reef. So much deeper therefore less to see when snorkelling. Totally impersonal. Low isles is a great experience with Sailaway who take very good care of you. Thanks To Blake and Augustine we had a terrific introduction to the Great Barrier Reef.
Overall this was a great experience but when we arrived at the venue there were no canapés left. My wife asked if there were any more available and was told sorry but no. This is a bit annoying as we felt that we were not getting what we paid for as the tour description lists that there are canapés on arrival. There should be some control over the amount that each person can take.
