Full description
Discover one of the world’s great art collections on a guided tour of the Louvre Museum, and marvel at relics from Ancient Egypt to the art of the Italian Renaissance. The entire collection would take months to see in full, but you will follow a carefully planned route to discover the highlights.

Gaze at da Vinci’s enigmatic Mona Lisa and see some of the less famous gems, such as Anthony Canova’s emotional Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss. Hear the true story depicted in Gericault’s Raft of Medusa, and go to Napoleon’s former apartments to admire the most beautiful décor of the palace, as well as a collection of crown jewels.

The masterpieces continue with the Venus de Milo, the sculpture that inspired so many artists. Head to the basement of the Louvre Palace to see the foundations of the castle that once stood on the site.

Unfortunately, due the strikes in Paris, there was a delay in entering the Museum, however the Guide tried to make up for lost time. Visiting and explaining the main works was important. After the guide's exhibition was over, we returned to some rooms to continue the visit. In the general context, the visit was well used.

The guide was really good. Unfortunately the audio devices were not charged but it didn't matter anyway as it turned out to be a private tour with the five of us. We didn't need the audio amplification. The guide was an arts student and her background knowledge of the artworks and scuptures was excellent. Meeting point easy to find (sign outside). We went via a group entry so delay through security only a few minutes. Louvre was busy but not to point you couldn't see anything.

We enjoyed our tour of the Louvre with Innes. She told us it was her first tour and we thought she did really well. Her knowledge was excellent and she answered our questions well. She was very good at finding a spot right in front of the exhibit and making sure no one pushed in until she had finished. There was only four of so it was an intimate little group rather than a very large one so was easy to hear. We think Innes will do very well in this role. Dianne and Graham Rice
