Agrostina and Delassandro were fantastic tour guides/translators and friends. From the moment they picked us up they were friendly and engaging. They were helpful with the planned activities but also gave us the space and options to look at towns and places that we were not expecting. First we were taken to Ficuzza national park which would have been lovely to tour alone but was made 100% richer for Agrostina’s patient attention and translations. She arranged an alternative anti mafia tour which let us see the true face of Mafia influence in Corleone rather than the glorified Hollywood story, speaking to locals who were setting up resistance against Mafia bullying. Very interesting tour. Finally on our way home we were taken to Piana de Albanesi , a lovely little town with dual Italian and Albanian dialects. We were treated to THE most amazing Connolo in a fantastic cafe. Finally on our way home Agrostina helped us organise a boat trip got the following day, which was also amazing. TYX
I highly recommend this activity. It is so well organized, making it a pleasurable and worry free day. Our driver, Michael, is not only an excellent driver, but also, friendly, polite, has a good sense of humor and knowledgeable about the sites. He engaged the passengers in interesting conversation. This made the time in the car pass quickly. We made a rest stop along the way, where Michael encouraged us to buy a picnic lunch to eat later among the temples. The food we purchased was reasonably priced and delicious. Once arriving at the Temples, Michael showed us where we would meet after our visit and saw us through the ticket booth. We were then free to walk the Valley on our own, with plenty of time to see all the beauty the Valley has to offer at our own pace. It is absolutely spectacular! I could not imagine visiting Sicily without a visit there. After our visit, we walked out the gate to find Michael exactly where he said he would be. It was a truly wonderful day.
Good tour of the city, highlighting it's history and important historical locations on both routes. We'd advise to start early as possible to take in both routes, and allow time to hop on, hop off at your preferred locations. It's a lot to take in so quickly, so bring a pen and paper to make note of locations which you'd like to revisit on route. The ticket is unlimited on both routes for 24 hours from your entry onto the tour bus. You can start at any point on the circuits convenient to you - both start/terminate at Teatro Politeama. Make note where your stop is, take note of the sign locations- they're not always clear & visible, as sometimes the bus has to stop close as possible, due to traffic/parking. If you 'Re staying a few days in Palermo - very worthwhile, it'll give you guidance to explore further. Both routes intersect at Teatro Massimo - there is good shopping and dining options within a short walk. Great history, architecture and buildings are sublime.
Glad to have the opportunity to leave a review. We were lucky enough to get Francesca on a Sunday. She is knowledgeable as well as flexible ( given we are both over 65) Francesca was able to impart a wealth of knowledge we would never have known otherwise. She also showed us many locations of historical significance and explained their background. As well as this we visited the local markets and streets and , Francesca explained some of the Palmero culture which were just as much fun. Not to mention a couple of little shop detours on the way. Our trip to Palermo was greatly enriched by Francesca’s tour. Grazie Mille Francesca !
Great tour of Agrigento - Joshua our driver/guide was fantastic! As a group of 8 we all thought it would be beneficial to have a tour guide at the Valley of the Temples for an additional 15 euros each. Organised smoothly by Joshua - it turned out to be the best idea! We had a brilliant, friendly, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgable Mexican guide who showed us around the amazing UNESCO sites and she made our day! The stop off at Stair of the Turks and our lunch spot on the way back to Palermo were also a lovely bonus. A great day with a great bunch of people :)
