Full description
Beginning at the meeting point in York, this historic day trip of Yorkshire’s beautiful sites will start with a visit to Rievaulx Terrace. Here you will have the chance to explore the area and immerse yourself in the Georgian era, alongside the 12th-century Rievaulx Abbey. From Rievaulx Terrace travel over the beautiful moors through quaint villages on the way to the Ryedale Folk Museum.

You’ll then venture off the beaten track through more of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. You will follow the meandering roads across the moors to Whitby, a traditional seaside town. There are plenty of places to enjoy lunch in Whitby - the town’s fish and chips being best in England (according to locals). You will also have the opportunity to witness the dramatic ruins of Whitby Abbey, which was one of the inspirations for Dracula.

Upon leaving Whitby, the tour then heads towards the charming town of Pickering, known as the ‘Gateway to the Moors’ and the southern terminus of the North York Moors Railway. There will be a chance to explore the station and see this picturesque market town. Then it will be time to head back to York, the last stop on the historic journey. Enjoy the scenic views of famous landmarks such as Castle Howard and the Hole of Horcum as your memorable Yorkshire tour draws to a close.
