We loved the boat tour of the bayou! We were disappointed though by the lack of organization or information that we experienced after arriving at the dock and prior to boarding the boat. Upon arriving at the dock, we were encouraged by a man who came on board the shuttle to visit the gift shop and use the restroom. That was fine but then there was no information for nearly 30 mins after that in terms of where to wait or how long we would be waiting. Eventually we figured out where we should go by asking around, only to wait a long time. It just would have been nice to know we would have to wait for a while and where we should expect to wait. Our tour guide was excellent. The pick up and drop off by Gray Line was satisfactory.
The overall experience was great. If you want to see the Alligators, suggest to book tour on a warm day if possible (we were able to see 13 alligators, 1 crane, 3 turtles, 1 rattlesnake) . The propellers on your boat and the others can be deafening and not enough provided headphones; claim your pair early on. Take Benedryl while on the charter bus going to the activity to prevent sinus headaches.
In addition to my above comment, might add there was a lot of empty time in the tour? We did not get onto the boat until more than 45 minutes after we arrived. After the boat ride, we hung around for 35 more minutes before we left. We were a small group and I did not think that much time was needed for those in need to use the facilities.
We know the students need to go on field trips to go along with what they are studying but when you are on vacation you don't want to hear and see children running around like that. We would have loved more time at the Battlefield instead of a slow ride back to the dock. Suggestion block out days for school trips only.
