What people are saying about Nafplio

Optimal way to visit Greek archeological sites

Definitely take this tour if you are interested in a good overview of the archeological sites. Our great guide Christina would usually first take us to the most relevant spots and explain their history, and then give us some free time to explore them further on our own (or sit down and relax). She was very nice and knowledgeable (though sometimes she oversimplified a bit), had a wonderful English and a great way to interleave historical commentaries with ancient myths, information on modern Greece and trivia, and this made the time spent on the couch go faster. The hotels were quite nice and at least four stars, but this could depend on availability. Food was just appropriate. Unfortunately the sites are quite far apart, but going there for longer on your own would probably take at least an extra day. At the end of the last day we switched to the couch of the 1-day tour to go back to Athens. The new guide was quite worse, luckily there was really nothing more of interest.

Long day but worth it for the views and the archaeological sites

The trip was well organised with the tour van arriving on time. Our driver was keen to give us information about living in Athens which was interesting. The various sights are definitely worth seeing and we met our guide for each at the various locations. The meet & greet was well organised and I never felt I was being abandoned at any point. We were shown all the important areas and artifacts in the the museums which was good. My only criticism would be that we had a very long lunch break in Nafplio which seemed longer than necessary. Overall however I would recommend the tour if you want a small group experience and want to see these archaeological sites.

Well worth our time and money.. Highly recommended

This is an efficient way to see important ancient sights around Athens. This was great in a few different ways : The distances and sights covered is difficult to accomplish independently within the 3 days. Our guide, Maria Anna was very knowledgeable and the info gleaned from her was invaluable to my 12yr old history buff. The dinner and rooms for the 2 nights were good choices, lunches were pre ordered and on our own dime. Our 20 seater minibus was adequate, and the companionship developed over 3 days with our fellow travellers was the icing on the cake. The pace was hectic, with regular breaks. Have already recommended this to my friends.

The trip was good, but hadn’t appreciated we didn’t have any guide until we got to the main sites. It would have been nice to have had the guide from Athens with facts and also to point out points of interest on the way, which we passed many. The lunch scenario was very confusing and a bit disappointing. Appreciate the tour didn’t include lunch, but assumed there would be time for us to get lunch along the way. As such, there was no opportunity until Nafplio at 3.40pm and by getting lunch, this left no time to enjoy the city. Your booking should have explained this better or recommended a packed lunch was brought on the tour.

The site at Mycenae was amazing. Lots to see and it was wonderful seeing the Lions Gate up close. The museum there was small but good. The golden mask and other important objects are in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. The restaurant was standard and drinks , even cokes , coffee, or tea were extra.
