First, stop at Corinth Canal, which connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. Then, continue by car towards the archaeological site of Mycenae, the prehistoric kingdom of mythical Agamemnon who was famous for leading the Greeks in the reputed Trojan War.

In Mycenae, admire the famous Lions’ Gate and explore the site of a royal set of graves where golden masks, weapons, cups, and crowns were discovered. Finally, follow the route uphill towards the ruins of the palace and the underground cistern, before taking an optional look at the local museum collection. Next, drive through the plains and orange groves of Argos towards the charming town of Nafplio. Admire the neoclassical buildings during a stroll along the picturesque cobbled streets. Then, explore the medieval quarter and port which offers an impeccable view of the sea and the small castle of Bourtzi. Find some ideal choices of restaurants here for a lunch break.
