What people are saying about Munich Residenz

Superb - the best walking tour of our 12-day, 5-European city visit!

"The best things in life are free" - and this tour with Aileen is a fine example. Was with two nieces aged 15 and 25 and we all enjoyed it The right balance and blend of history, storytelling, humor, insightful commentaries, tips on where and what to eat, interesting tales like "the devil's footprint" in Frauenkirche, and much more had us falling in love with Munich and its people, and wishing to explore more of its sights and experiences by and by. I wondered what the tour company served to gain by offering it for free (but I hope it keeps doing so). Giving us an appetizing sampling of the guiding in its other tours, perhaps? Only briefly and in good taste did Aileen later on invite us to join other offered tours. Just so happened we didn't have any more spare days for those. But judging by the free walking tour am certain those would have been very interesting and worthwhile. Vielen dank to Aileen and your company! Auf wiedersehen.

Excellent musical performance in perfect setting!

The musicians we saw were excellent. I understand that the program varies, and the musicians vary. Ours were of the highest quality - 2 violins & 1 bass. One of the violinists was a virtuoso & performed several of his pieces without reading music. The setting, in a small chapel in The Residenz Palace, was exquisite. Mozart had performed there, not surprisingly. You do sit on hard wooden pews, so that is the only drawback. They ask you to arrive at 6, and the concert is at 6:30, so you have a bit to wait after being seated. The entrance can be hard to find - it is one of the doors to the Residenz which has Lions at the doorway, which helps to identify it. They also give the street & surrounding shops for reference points. Many attendees dressed nicely. We only saw the show as we did not need to have the dinner, which we understand is at a nearby restaurant.

Wonderful music and quite disappointing dinner.

The concert was great, loved it, but the dinner was a serious disappointment, especially given the price (approximately $98.00 per person). We thought we were eating as a group, but no, it was basically just a dinner reservation to Zum Franciskaner where we were not shown a menu but were automatically served an entree of sauerkraut, potato dumplings, boiled pork and beer. It looked much like the advertised dinner special that cost approximately €16. Do not book the dinner unless you like the food listed above for that price.

The Guide was great but not time efficient

Our guide was Noel and we really liked him. He was Irish so he had lots of perspective and knowledge to share. However, the conversation got to be a little long and not enough walking was done to really cover the town as intended. He also had an afternoon appt. so he kept emphasizing that our time was short and we really didn't get to see the English Garden or Chinese pagoda and biergarten that was listed.. We got a lot of knowledge but not as much ground covered as expected. All in all, enjoyable.

Great , did not have to worry about travel.

We did not get chance to take advantage of all the discounts of this ticket but we did however think it was so much cheaper to get that getting single tickets each time we used the public transport so the discounts are a bonus. We did get the souvenir from Hard Rock Cafe witch was just a cheap pen so did expect a little bit more. Also the city tour card was not a card it was just a ticket ( bit of paper). But all in all we would get this again as it is value for money.
