Could not fault this trip whilst in Florence, it was one of the best things which we did on our two week trip in Italy. The meeting location was very easy to find and the day ran completely efficiently, we were driven by coach with air con to the first vineyard, Famiglia Mazzarrini and it was not what we expected at all, we were all sat down at tables and were given actual glasses of wine of substance, provided with snacks such as cheeses, breads and Italian meat and were well educated on everything we were eating/drinking. We took a short trip to the fortress at Monteriggioni and had enough time to walk around and take pictures of the views, we then took our final ride to a smaller vineyard a short distance away where we were provided with more glasses of vine, breads and olive oil. Our guides on the day were Eurydice and Larisa (I hope I've spelt this right!!) and they were both so friendly and attentive, very knowledgeable about Tuscany and different wines too. Highly recommend.
We had one free day for doing the Chianti Wine Tasting and we waited until the last minute to book. Get Your Guilde offered an afternoon adventure with two wineries (more than enough for our simple taste buds) with a bit of history in the middle to help us focus on the tastings. The timing of the tour was slowed by the fact we all - (all 64 of us - more people than live in the town we visited!!!) had to walk to board a city tram from the meeting point. Then we all got off to board the bus. We were finally on our way almost an hour after our scheduled tour. Alberto was very personable but we would have appreciated different info than almost the word-for-word narrative that the wine hosts offered. Tell me something about the region? Tell me about the history? Tell me how the various times in the containers produces the variety of wine? Give us more details on the balsamic preparation? Provide better narrative. Bring a sandwich!!
Ana was awesome and very knowledgeable! The trip was great starting with salami, cheese, bread and 3 different wines from the first stop. A rose’, white, then Chianti Classico DOCG. We also tried their amazing Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic vinegar. At the second stop we got to go see Monteriggioni into an early 15th/16th century town with an outer wall perimeter. Then our last stop was a smaller original winery where we took photos of the modern vats and the oldest aging barrels in their damp, brick formed basement. Our tasting was in an old, stone made horse barn. We had some bread pieces to clean our palates. Such a cool experience.
The tour guide was exceptional and informative. The wineries and Castle we visited were nice. The bus had minimally functioning A/C and the poor people sitting in the 2nd story of the bus had A/C refrigerant leaking on them. If I was one of those people I would have asked for a refund. Also, their were families on the bus with toddlers. Who brings toddlers on a bus with adults drinking wine. It should say on your website "family affair" so adults only can go elsewhere. Needless to say the toddler threw up within the first 30 minutes of the tour.
From the very start this afternoon was extremely well organised. Maria who accompanied us for the whole tour had excellent knowledge as did the guides at the two wine stops. A really good informative trip that was great value for money. Every detail was planned to perfection and we were brought back at the end of the day exactly on time. Well worth doing this tour.
