Full description
Get ready for an amazing day of Civil War history. Meet your private driver in the morning and head to the Crossroads Museum. There you will see the museum's impressive gallery, artifacts, and a cannon used in the Battle of Shiloh. After the Crossroads Museum, tour the Civil War Interpretive Center, which features interactive exhibits and a multi-media presentation of the Battle of Corinth and the Battle of Shiloh.

The center stands near the site of Battery Robinett, a Federal fortification where some of the bloodiest fighting took place. Four unknown Confederate soldiers are also buried at the site. On the grounds, full-scale reproductions of earthworks explain the importance of field fortifications. Next, stop at Borroum's Drug Store & Soda Fountain, Mississippi's oldest operating drug store, for lunch on your own. All visitors are recommended to try the local favorite, the Slugburger.

After lunch you will head to the Shiloh National Military Park, the site of the most epic struggle in the Western Theatre of the Civil War. The park contains a wide array of historic sites. Located within the boundaries of Shiloh Battlefield is also a United States National Cemetery, which contains around 4,000 soldiers and their family members. A National Historic Landmark in its own right, the Shiloh Indian Mounds are also located within the park's boundaries.

On the way back to Memphis, stop in LaGrange. At the onset of the American Civil War, La Grange, Tennessee was a thriving community of over 2,000 inhabitants. Known for its culture, society, and education, La Grange became a country seat for the wealthy citizens of Memphis, who built their elegant antebellum homes on the bluffs overlooking the Wolf River. What made La Grange geographically desirable to the newcomers, unfortunately, also made it strategically vital to both the Union and Confederate armies. Arrive back in Memphis at 8:00 PM.
