Full description
There is no better way to see a country’s landscape than through the windows of a train. Puffing Billy, Australia’s famous narrow gauge railway, takes you on a ride in a bygone era, through the Blue Dandenong Ranges. Perhaps you’ll even hear the call of the kookaburra or the bellbird above Billy’s cheerful whistle.

Marvel at the wide vistas of farmland and vineyards as you travel through the Yarra Valley. Enjoy complimentary chocolate tastings and view displays of premium chocolates and European Chocolatiers at work while you visit the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery.

Through the course of the day, visit the renowned Rochford Wines and sample some of their award-winning wines. Next, explore the beautiful boutique winery of Dominique Portet, where they still use traditional French methods to make their wines. Treat yourself to a wine tasting and lunch at Fergusson's Winery.

A wonderful, fun experience for everyone in the family!

We were a family of 23, with kids as young as 15 and a grandmother aged 83. Not a single highlight of this tour disappointed any of us! We enjoyed every moment from feeding the cuckatoos after Billy tea, to the ride on Puffing Billy train thru the Dandenong Ranges, to the scrumptious lunch at Ferguson's Winery, the sinful desserts at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie, all the way to the very interesting and informative wine tasting sessions! Our guide Jeremy was excellent!

Very poor value for money, especially as it did NOT include the promised cheese and crackers and tour of one of the wineries. Several other elements were also disappointing, eg the driver repeatedly tried to enthuse everyone about morning tea, with "lots and lots of absolutely delicious cakes, and toast and Vegemite - you must try Vegemite!" - it was a packet of Lamingtons, and a box of catering crackers with a jar of Vegemite available.

This tour appeared to us as a typical Turi rip off. The train journey was just going to the next station, the bus stopped at every merchandise shop, the two wine tastings were completed in 10 minutes each with a total of 4 samples of the rather bad Australian wine, and the bus driver's explanations were barely understandable because felt obliged to the SingSang of the standard English language. Please do not book this tour.
