Tours of Marrakech's picturesque desert vary in length from a single afternoon to an adventurous five days. To help you pick the right option, here are some of the best things to do on each.
Enjoy a camel tour through Marrakech's rural palm groves, race over the dunes on a quad bike, or even do both! Either way, be sure to stop for tea at a traditional Berber village.
Take in the scenic delights en route to Zagora - among them Aït Benhaddou, an ancient city that has been the backdrop to Hollywood movies from "Lawrence of Arabia" to "Gladiator."
Trek out to the Sahara's famous windswept dunes at Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga, spotting wildlife by day and camping Bedouin-style beneath the stars at night.
From Aït Benhaddou, detour through Ouarzazate – "Door of the Desert" – and continue over the Atlas Mountains through the historic village of Tamgrout and Irqui National Park.
Take in all of the above and throw in hikes along the breathtaking Todgha and Dadès Gorges, as well as smaller pleasures like flamingo-watching and traditional music shows!
Marrakech desert tours and safaris start at around €50 for an afternoon, with prices reaching closer to €1,000 for all-inclusive day trips lasting four to five days. Discount deals can be found if you book online, but be sure to compare comfort factors like transportation, accommodation, and food, especially for longer tours.
Marrakech swelters through hot and humid summers that can reach upwards of 104°F. However, despite the desert landscape, it experiences seasonal rains through its damp and mild winters.

What People Are Saying About Marrakech
Everything gone better than expected. The driver pick up us at the expected time and take us to the camel ride. The local guide was very very nice. 1 hour of camel ride, which is a bit longer, but it's very nice to do. Then, we go to another place with our guide that take us to the quad bike ride. This ride is amazing, we drive for almost one hour, until we stop to drink a wonderful mint tea in a small village in the middle of nowhere :) Then, we come back to quad bike location and our guide take us back to the hostel. It really worth. Feel sorry to not have time to go to the SPA.
Great tour into the desert for three days! For all that you get to do, it's very worthwhile! Be aware, even though you pay €100 up front, the additional costs will bring you closer to €140 (this is due to lunches and tips along the way). Everyone so far has been right about the desert, it's very hard to get a good night's sleep…but it's all a part of the experience! To help make the night better, find a mattress outside of the tents and sleep on that! Hamid was also a solid driver. He wasn't super engaging, but was really good at his job. He always kept us safe, and made sure that we were all accounted for before ever leaving a location. He was even nice enough to accommodate for a sick member of the trip, making several additional stops to assist the sick member. Overall, the trip will be one of the best experiences of my life, so it's hard to put an actual price tag onto that!
I decided a while ago to travel alone to Morocco. Even though I was reluctant, I must say I enjoyed my trip a lot. Mohamed was a great driver and guide and the group was fantastic. I really enjoyed the trip and would definitely do it again. The desert was amazing and I'd recommend a longer stay there, as it's mesmerising.
I'm a traveling university student who is on a budget but wants to see as much of the world as everyone else. When I found this tour and saw all of the positive reviews, I decided to jump on it, and I'm so glad I did. I met some of the coolest people on the trip, and I ate some amazing food. Spending a night in the Sahara Desert was out of this world and really took my breath away. There are only a few drawbacks: the drive is long (worth it, I promise), and you need to buy big jugs of water (do that often & make sure you always have enough), but besides that, I had such a great time and I'm so happy to have gone on such a wonderful adventure! This tour is perfect for people who are open-minded, sight-seeing fanatics, social, and on a budget!
Absolutely brilliant, good quality bikes/quod. There where little bit of everything, speed, view, sand road and mountain road Would definitely recommend this trip, Not to long but no rush, We where picked up at our riad, the driver was so good and it was good way to start the trip Thanks -Abdeccah
