How many days should you plan for a Marrakech desert tour?

Tours of Marrakech's picturesque desert vary in length from a single afternoon to an adventurous five days. To help you pick the right option, here are some of the best things to do on each.

1 day

Enjoy a camel tour through Marrakech's rural palm groves, race over the dunes on a quad bike, or even do both! Either way, be sure to stop for tea at a traditional Berber village.

2 days

Take in the scenic delights en route to Zagora - among them Aït Benhaddou, an ancient city that has been the backdrop to Hollywood movies from "Lawrence of Arabia" to "Gladiator."

3 days

Trek out to the Sahara's famous windswept dunes at Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga, spotting wildlife by day and camping Bedouin-style beneath the stars at night.

4 days

From Aït Benhaddou, detour through Ouarzazate – "Door of the Desert" – and continue over the Atlas Mountains through the historic village of Tamgrout and Irqui National Park.

5 days

Take in all of the above and throw in hikes along the breathtaking Todgha and Dadès Gorges, as well as smaller pleasures like flamingo-watching and traditional music shows!

Good fun, especially the little track out in the desert.

Had fun. Just long enough. We tour the local desert then we went around the little track they built. It was near the end and it was alot of fun going around the berms. That was the beat part

Wonderful tour, well planned, comfortable!

This was much more comfortable than I thought it would be, and a great way to get outside of Marrakech. Loved staying in the Sahara - some of us slept under the stars with the blanks and mattresses they provided in the tents. Beautiful!

Amazing! don't miss this, especially if you have kids

I took my 10 and 12 years on this and they absolutely loved it. Got some amazing photos of riding camels over the dunes and a terrific night in the tented camp. Our guide was incredibly helpful, even arranging us a taxi straight back to Fez from Merzouga. Highlight of an amazing trip.

It was very safe & protective; hospitality & service was the best

I am lucky and blessed to saw and experienced this place myself without any kind of feedback. Organisers/workers were great, felt very safe & protective there. Awsome food and the hospitality was so humbling. I felt like I am in my own home. All the facilities were being provided. One of my best journeys; everything was so good Ma Shaa Allah, with heartily best wishes...Bushra
