How many days should you plan for a Marrakech desert tour?

Tours of Marrakech's picturesque desert vary in length from a single afternoon to an adventurous five days. To help you pick the right option, here are some of the best things to do on each.

1 day

Enjoy a camel tour through Marrakech's rural palm groves, race over the dunes on a quad bike, or even do both! Either way, be sure to stop for tea at a traditional Berber village.

2 days

Take in the scenic delights en route to Zagora - among them Aït Benhaddou, an ancient city that has been the backdrop to Hollywood movies from "Lawrence of Arabia" to "Gladiator."

3 days

Trek out to the Sahara's famous windswept dunes at Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga, spotting wildlife by day and camping Bedouin-style beneath the stars at night.

4 days

From Aït Benhaddou, detour through Ouarzazate – "Door of the Desert" – and continue over the Atlas Mountains through the historic village of Tamgrout and Irqui National Park.

5 days

Take in all of the above and throw in hikes along the breathtaking Todgha and Dadès Gorges, as well as smaller pleasures like flamingo-watching and traditional music shows!

THE BEST QUAD BIKE EXPERIENCE-DONT BOOK ANYWHERE ELSE

Booked though getyourguide. 5 star QUAD bike experience, lasted over an hour on the bikes. Not sure you would need more as its hot out there! Booked as a birthday treat for my 14 year olds turning 15. The only company I found who would let under 16 drive a QUAD bike. YOUR TUI,FIRST CHOICE, ANY OTHER TRAVEL AGENT won't allow this. Excellent staff at the bikes , excellent off roading on different terrains, mint tea and snack 3/4 of way round, fab guide who always looked out for us, only 5 in our group so went at pretty rapid speeds! If we had the money we woukd have done it again!!! WEAR OLD CLOTHES, AS YOU GET FILTHY :) Camel ride was good, we've done one before in Egypt and Turkey and realised pretty much the same thing.. terrain is a bit boring in the palmeraie. Lasted an hour which is more than enough. Have to mention our driver....great guy, this booking included tfr from hotel to both experiences and driver was ace, very informative and he helped us pick up snacks from local shop

Amazing adventure that took my breath away,

The trip is much more than a camel ride. It is an immersion into the beautiful culture of West Africa. Tot enjoy the experience you must enjoy the journey through the welcoming communities along the way.

One of the highlights of our time in Morocco!

We really loved the camel trek! If anything I’d go for the 3 day if you have time to really get out to the sand dunes because we didn’t have the picturesque desert that I thought we’d have! BUT that being said everything was so amazing and the tents were fantastic and the Berber people were the nicest! It doesn’t feel like a long car ride because of all the great stops along the way! I do wish that our guide would have put us next to or near each other because the ride back I could barely see my husband because he was in a different camel train. Really lovely and highly recommended experience though!

Wonderful. Well organized. Would do it again!

It was a very pleasant, interesting, adventourus trip with that left very little to complain about. Driver was punctual and drove very calm and would stop when asked. The sights and places we visited were very interesting, they always provided an english (or multiple european languages) speaking guide to show us around and give us more information. The hotel we stayed at in the first night was basic but clean and even had a pool! Also the car/mini bus that we've been on for the whole trip was very comfy, clean and airconditioned. My personal highlight was definetely the dromedar ride and the overnight stay at camp in the dunes. Would always do it again, they answered questions via mail pretty quickly and helped with whatever we needed. Only the restaurants we were taken to for lunch were a bit of a downside as the Food was very tasteless.

Friendly staff, great day out, amazing value for money.

Pick up from my hotel was swift and on time. The camel ride was around an hour which had some lovely views. The staff were extremely friendly and were happy to constantly take as many pictures as you like. The quad biking was around an hour and a half in length and was a lot of fun. You stop twice for some photographs and once to taste morocco tea which was lovely. Overall, an amazing day out and great value for money.
