Full description
See Leonardo da Vinci’s Lady with an Ermine, a portrait that embodies the Renaissance idea of an image as an illusion of natural vitality. The artist achieved this with his knowledge of human anatomy and skill with light features.

Admire one of da Vinci's most striking masterpieces. The original background was over-painted with black in the 19th century and was modeled with light just like the figure, which must have given the impression of the model emerging from the shadows. Adam Jerzy, the son of Princess Izabela Czartoryska, purchased the painting in Italy in around 1800. It was donated to the Museum in Puławy and in 2016 the portrait became the property of the Republic of Poland.
