Amazing tour and you must book this one! Local guide and he me for a traditional breakfast of rice cake, lentil donut with amazing dipping sauces. Putti and medu vada I think are the traditional names. Next we went to the Mysore Palace and a local guide took over. Saw the delights of the royal palace and the amazing architecture and materials used. Next to the silk worm factory (other destination had Muslim protests so we had to avoid) where we had a tour of how the silk is extracted and spun into glorious fabrics. Very noisy and busy and amazing to see. Next stop a traditional lunch on banana leaf. I copied my guide to eat the local way. Food was incredible and not something I would have tasted without a local person taking me there. My guide chatted throughout the journey about the history of India and the areas, different cultures (additional to the main tour description). Although the tour was more expensive than others in India it is worth every penny! 10/10!
After being collected from our hotel, we travelled North towards Nandi Hills, stopping for breakfast on the way. We continued on to Nandi Hills, and spent a few hours exploring the beautiful location. Our guide Raghu was very friendly and knowledgeable. We then returned to the city and were taken to a restaurant for a traditional lunch, served on a fresh banana leaf. Our guide was super helpful in arranging everything for us, so we could just enjoy. We also had a driver for the whole day, so the driver could drop us and the guide at each location, and collect us when we were ready.
I’m so glad that I booked this trip! The drivers were outstanding and so was the tour guide. We had breakfast and lunch together. Both meals were tasty. Be prepared for a long drive. Bangalore traffic is awful. The first temple at Shravanabelagola is quite a climb. It’s something like 1600 steps carved into the rock face. The views are spectacular and so is the 57 ft statue of Gommateshwara. The temples at Belur and Halebeedu are equally impressive. Ladies, bring some travel Kleenex, the bathrooms are rustic.
Lots of traffic in Bangalore so spent a lot of time in car, to be expected there. Did see Palace, Gardens and Bull Temple. Went solo and was a little nervous about that but the guide and driver where very friendly and took good care of me. They did stop at some shops which I didn’t mind although I felt slightly pressured to buy something. Otherwise good.
Aniketh was a fantastic guide. He was very informative and knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and enjoy the tour. The tour was exactly as described, however, you could modify it slightly to suit your needs. This was my first time in India and I think this walking tour is a great introduction to the area of Bangalore.
