What people are saying about John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
Despite published information to the contrary, the tour operator does not offer hotel pickup. Participants must meet at the tour departure location. Anyway, no big deal, but worth mentioning. The e-voucher process was great. The tour guide was knowledgable, personable and humorous. But the outside temperatures were so brutally cold that night that nobody wanted to spend a lot of time on the walking portions of the tour. As a result, we ended up cutting down the planned duration significantly. Also, the bus heater had to be blasting the whole time to keep up with the cold. The resulting fan noise made the PA system very difficult to hear the narration while we were driving. So, through no fault of the operator, the tour was not as good as it could've been. We plan to do it again in the spring.
Our tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable. Loading the bus was a bit of a fiasco. We met at the meeting point, boarded the coach bus with nice plush seats, and phone chargers. Only to be told at 7:05pm (when your was supposed to begin at 7) that we were switching to an open top bus tour with a limited number of seats that are covered below. The tour advertised “glass rooftop” tour. Not open bus. It was a chilly night. Although dry, we hit bushes that were soaked with rain and slapped is in the face. Also, the experience promised a 3.5 hr tour and it was just shy of 3. I would take it again, but should be noted if it’s an open top Bus as several people were unprepared for the wet and cold open top Bus.
Charlie was a great guide, The bus were great, clean and comfortable. the tour was well organized, and perfect for a family with smaller children or anyone who can't walk all across the Mall. I could have used a bit more time at two stops in particular, we had to hurry through the FDR monument in order to see the Martin Luther King Jr. Monument. Then at the Lincoln, Vietnam, and Korea monument stop there is time to see two of the three, not all three.
Exceptional, well executed tour of the most prominent historic and modern monuments. Guide was well informed, knowledgeable and presented with clear concise diction; Information was presented on the bus prior to departure allowing an independent exploration of each of the monument visits --an ideal combination respecting the individual tourist interest. WELL DONE NICK!
Only problem: our guide was very good BUT he spoke so fast that even I, who have been living in the US for 24 years, had sometimes trouble understanding him. My friends who came from Europe missed a lot because of that!
