What people are saying about Hungarian State Opera House
We were only slightly disappointed when we realized that the pink like wasn't working during our stay, since it does not run during the month of February, but we were still very pleased with the rest of the service. We took the green bus around and sincerely enjoyed the narration during the ride. We had plently to do even with only the green line. The price we paid was a great deal for the bus and two boat tours (we took them both and enjoyed them). I would recommend this to others as a way to make sure you see all the sights of Buda and Pest and you don't have to climb up the hills on the Buda side.
The ticket issuer tried to downgrade our ticket implying we had not paid enough but fortunately I had the printed ticket which listed all the activities this included so she could not argue with this. We were also told we could use any of the four bus routes running which made this very flexible. We did have trouble finding bus stops as not clearly marked and the one at Parliament House does not exist anymore but is still on the map. We walked along way to find this out. The 2 boat trips included (same one but one in day one at night) were great.
When we come for first time in a city we always use a hop-on/hop-off bus. In Budapest it was a nice surprise to receive also two boat tickets, free goulash and beer and a discount booklet. In the green bus the information is running on many languages, the pink line was live guided (in our case English and German) . When it began to rain in the open-top bus we all received raincoats. There is a good coordination between the two lines. We are really pleased with this activity.
Both the green and pink routes covered the main tourist sights. The only problem we encountered was when, because of traffic congestion, part of the route was taken out of order (stops14 and 15 reversed) and this was not made clear by the guide. The one hour Danube cruise was very good.
Frequent buses to allow you to hopon and off, although we stayed on for the full tours and picked the detail later. River trips included were good, especially the evening trip. Pick your bus - Budapest can be very hot in summer and you could be very exposed on the open top bus .
